Buserelin injections

Hi I’m currently 3 days into taking my injections and was shown how to take them. However the nurse showed us very quickly and it was a lot of information to take in during the 2hr appt. She told me to squeeze my stomach (pinch an inch) and put the needle in and then let go and then press to transfer the buserelin. My partner has just said he doesn’t feel like that’s right but isn’t 100%. Does this sound right to you guys? Normally I’d ring to check but I have the injection really early in the morning and I’d like some reassurance before then. Thanks so much in advance x

Hi lovely, I am also using Buserelin. Tbh I never was shown so I just went with how I was shown for my first injections for menopur. I pinch my tummy and hold it whilst injecting then take the needle out. For my first round I watched a video on how to do it as they couldn’t do the teach due to covid. I could be wrong but as long as the solution is injected in it shouldn’t matter. I just think it’s easier when you pinch your tummy xx

Fab thanks so much for replying that really puts my mind at rest 😊 My partner will be pleased he’s right haha! He questioned the point of letting it go again but like you say it probably doesn’t make too much difference as long as it goes in xx

Well.....I just watched a video and they actually pinch and then let go whilst injecting 😂 tbh I have been injecting now for about 2 weeks and I had my bloods recently and they were showing to be doing what was needed and I pinch whilst injecting. Good luck for your treatment fingers crossed for you 🤞 xx

Hey!That's exactly how I was told. You let go of the inch and then push the needle slightly until it makes a dimple then push the plunger. Think the idea is that it doesn't bruise as much!

Basically whatever hurts the least and gets all the liquid in!

Good luck and hope the rest of the injections go well 😊 xx

Thank you, it’s also reassuring to know it hurts a little bit as I wasn’t sure if that was a sign of doing it wrong xx

Hello, I used to keep my skin pinched whilst injecting. It really is whatever you feel most comfortable with. I have an old video of my first Buserelin shot which you might find helpful (or not!!). Feel free to watch - from 5:40: youtu.be/CATzSJ1nbP0

Good luck! xx

Thanks so much for replying, your video was very helpful! I’ve watched three of them now and need to watch the rest!! Your little bunny is very cute! I wish you both so much luck in your next cycle and have everything crossed 🍀 xx

That's no problem! Glad the video helped - it was only 6 months ago but it already feels like 6 years ago!! And thank you re Hoover the bunny - he is the best. You must get one; they help with the Buserelin shots! 😅 Wishing you all the very best, you've got this! 💪xx

Hiya, I always kept the skin pinched until after I'd done the injection and taken the needle out but as long as it's gone in I'm sure it's fine! Good luck 😊 x
