Hi all, I'm excited and scared at the same time as we'll be starting IVF treatment in December! It has been a long journey but it is finally here!! I'm starting buserelin injections and just wondered how many people if any, experienced side effects? Xx

Hi! I just had Buserelin as a sniffer form so and just had the gonal f injections. I got loyal f headaches and seemed to have a but if hair fall out but that was it!!

The injections aren't as bad as what you think they are...my husband did them as I'm a wimp and I numbed it a few minutes and didn't feel a thing. Make sure you drink lots of water. Good luck with everything xxx

Hey Willo38

I have just completed my first round and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have any side effects from any of the meds. The needles were really fine so once the first one was out the way it was really easy.

Good luck and if you have any questions along the way, this is a really friendly and helpful forum. Sending you lots of baby dust. Xx

Let it warm up a bit before injecting to minimise sting! Also helps to sit forward to allow you to grab a roll of skin more easily to inject into.

I had a few headaches at the start and towards the end of the bureselin injections my tummy was slightly bruised and tender but nothing major. I'm now over 11 weeks pregnant after my 1st cycle of ivf so I feel very blessed. I did have acupuncture in between egg collection and transfer mainly to help with my stress levels plus afterwards as I developed ohss (over stimulated ovaries from the gonal f injections but every but of discomfort has been worth it so far.just waiting eagerly for our 12 week scan appointment to come through Xx

Wishing you all the best and hope you have your happy ending with a beautiful baby soon Xxx

Hi, both perfectly normal feelings. I got very thirsty and definitely remember to drink your 2 litres of water a day. Bloating and a bit of bruising were my main side effects. I did acupuncture during treatments which I found helped everything. Good luck xx

Definitely drink 2-3 L of water, as others have said. When I started, I had terrible headaches but got them under control with staying hydrated. I didn't want to take too much paracetamol as I felt I was on enough drugs at that point! Once you add gonal f, the symptoms aren't as bad. I did find that the buserelin stung quite a bit. Got better when I took what I needed into a needle and heated it up slightly but sometimes I had a little rash at injection site. This went away quickly but did sting.

Once you get over the first 3 days or so, you'll be fine! Just remember why you're doing this and it'll get you through it. 🙂
