Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'm on my first cycle for icsi.
So I was taking bemfola injections 187.50 out of 225 pen and they were fine but as of today I have to take 300 out of 300 pen and once the needle was in I pressed it down until it stopped and removed the needle. It's when I noticed there was still some liquid left so I pressed it hard and the rest came out 🙈🙈
I have done a trial with a 225 pen and set it up to the max dose (225) and same thing happened, it stopped nearly at the end and I really had to push it to get the full dose down.
Is this what happens if you take the max dose? Not sure how to push it so hard once the needle is in my tummy 🙈🙈

Yeah. This happened to me a few times with bemfola and I ended up taking less for 4 days in a row which did affect my cycle. My recommendation is be brave and push hard. One day of a bit less isn’t a big deal but make it count tomorrow! It can be easier to push down hard into the thigh so maybe give that a go. X
I really get it- it created allot of anxiety for me and the low dose I accidentally gave myself (4 times) affected the response of my follicles I the start of the cycle. You want to go for for the top of your thigh - high up on the thigh. Did your clinic send you a video and instructions sheet? If you google you should be able to find a diagram of the areas you can do. It’s basically on the top of the thigh high up - by which I mean closer to your womb, and the other area is the tummy below the belly button. Just choose the place you think you’ll be able to get a good grip and be brave enough to push all the way. Persevere and make sure you get it all in. I have a needle phobia so I couldn’t let anyone else do it for me as I needed to be in control of it myself but if you are able to let someone else do it for you that could also be a good option. X
I have just done it and it all went in but it stopped just over half way through, just like yesterday! I honestly think these pens should be smoother! Thank you so much for your advise and support xxx
The pens normally have a bit more than the stated dose in them. So a 300 pen will actually have a bit more than 300 in it. As long as the number goes down to 0 when you do the injection, you will have got the required dose xx
Hi all. So this also happened to me and it was at the start of my cycle for about 6 days. It wasn't till I was given a new pen of 300 (which went all the way down, smoothly - no resistance) that I realised. I am going to talk to the clinic but I don't think this is OK. As we have all experienced this quite recently, could it be an issue with the pens?! I would have had to push much harder to finish the jab and the instruction video said 'stop when you can't push anymore'. I don't want to get into a big blame game but I only had one shot at egg collection & I feel like this is likely to have compromised it. Can this really all be human error, for us all?
