I am having a low day, I feel so disappointed, once again. I needed to start my second cycle of Clomid this month with double dosage of 100mg, since 50mg did absolutely nothing last month (no ovulation).
After few days of spotting when wiping (and nothing on the pad) my period arrived yesterday with a heavy-ish flow. I woke up at 6am, it was dark, cold and rainy, I went to the clinic for the initial scan and collected Clomid from the pharmacy, then rushed back home on time for work.
This afternoon the nurse called saying I can’t start Clomid because my LH level is too high. Every month there is something wrong with me that stops the process.
My issue is ovulation does not happen often and the doctor recommended Clomid or Letrozole (at the private clinic and also the GP) I wanted to try Clomid for 3-4 months between September and December, before moving onto another treatment in the new year, but I just can’t see how this can be possible. I honestly don’t know what to do... It is so heartbreaking that I don’t even get a chance to try to conceive.
I take so many supplements, do acupuncture every 2 weeks, eat well... there must be something else that’s wrong with me. I want professionals to tell me, I don’t want to be suggesting ‘Maybe I should try Metformin, maybe I should do that.
Please advice if you can

Dont beat yourself up love. Clomid doesnt work for all. Me included. In hindsight they never increased my dose and tried 6 months of 50mg. What a waste of time. Many many blood tests and doctors later i did find some deficiencies in my blood (auto immune desease, low vit d, low iron) so trying to fix that. But looks like u are doing all if that. Just wanted send love and want u to know that there are so many of us that are unexplained 😢
Thank you hun. Luckily they did all these tests for me at the beginning and it’s nothing else they discovered so far, ‘only’ Pcos. I know there are worse situations out there but this really sucks. I hope you are well 💕
I can imagine how frustrating this situation is for you, unfortunately they don’t have all the answer and for us, it’s super difficult to get our hopes up and then nothing... you know I’ve been there... and dear you are with of the best clinic in London, you will get there.
Hi Francy, you need a good endocrinologist who is also an expert in infertility. I don't think the NHS can provide that level of care, tbh. I don't have any to recommend in the UK, but on an Italian forum some women mention a couple of doctors who are really thorough. Not sure if the "Italy" part in your nickname means anything, and actually at the moment is really complicated to travel. But if in the next year you're still in stuck a limbo, and want some contact, let me know.
I wish you don't have this issue though! Good luck dear 😘
Hi ... I totally feel for you! I also said to my doctor: "Every month there is something wrong." My doctor said: "By the end of the day, it is all about your age and your ovaries. What you see, LH levels, FSH levels, etc. are merely the symptoms. For your age, this is as expected. We just need to know whether it matters and then decide if we can proceed despite the high test results. By the end of the day, you don't have a lot of time to waste and we only need one good egg. So, we made a balanced decision." That month, after my doctor did the scan, she asked me to go ahead even when my FSH was over 12 and I am in my second trimester now. I indeed only got one good egg retrieved by the end of the day. So, that was extremely lucky and I am so grateful.
I wish you all the luck. You will have one perfect egg very soon.
Hi Yehong, thank you for sharing. It is a lovely story and I’m happy that you were successful. It is not my case as I am 32 and I have Pcos which is why my levels are all over the place! Wishing you all the very best for the rest of your pregnancy and delivery. I look forward to your birth announcement xx
I am really sorry for what you are going through - there is a group on Facebook called “S’moo babies” where a lot of people with PCOS are noticing a difference by taking this product called S’moo that’s meant to regulate hormones for those suffering from PCOS. Not trying to product push or anything but a lot of people there have similar stories to yours and have found this may make a difference so it’s worth exploring ?
Hi Francesca. Sorry, I am not on-top of the posts on here.
This really sucks. I wish clinics did actually have the answers. A lot of it seems such a guessing game. My whole experience has been "just keep trying and hoping, and odds-wise you should have a baby at some point; probably, maybe....". Reassuring! It's not anything you're doing or not doing - you're doing everything you possibly can to get pregnant. It just unfortunately seems like the science is not anywhere near the levels we need it to be at! It's frustrating dealing with the clinics and all the waiting around is impossible to cope with. Really feeling for you and sending you big hugs. xxxx
Hi Emmie, I feel more reassured as the deputy director who is the one who follows my case, called me and we had a nice chat. He is Italian like me and feels a bit like an uncle! I have to be on the contraception pill for a month to lower this level and hopefully try Clomid again with a double dosage. I really hope to get somewhere! I hope your pregnancy is progressing smoothly and that your little ones are snuggled up nicely in there xxx
Oh good! I'm glad to hear you have a special ally at the clinic (we have one nurse who I also consider an ally). Happy you are more reassured and they have a plan. Yup, all good here, thanks. x
