Norethisterone timing

Hi there. I would appreciate anyone's advice on this. I am hoping to start an ivf cycle with my next period and have been told to take norethisterone for 10 days from day 14 to day 25 of period. During my consultation I told the doctor that my cycles are 26-27 days and so I'm wondering if the instructions to start these meds on day 14 was based on the idea that I would ovulate on day 12 or 13. Unfortunately today is day 14 and I've not yet ovulated although I'm starting to feel the beginnings of the usual ovulation pains. So I called the clinic to ask if I should still start noresthirone today given that I've not ovulated yet and am probably about to. I was concerned that if this follicle isn't realised that I may develop a cyst. I had a scan on Friday that confirmed there was a follicle on one ovary that was growing toward ovulation. I assume starting these meds today will interfere with ovulation. I'm not sure the nurse I spoke to understood that the doctor had recorded that my cycles are normally shorter etc and may have based the timing on that. I stupidly didn't say to the consultant that every few cycles I have a long one. Just wondering whether anyone else has been told to take this medication day 14-25 regardless of their cycle length as that would be quite reassuring! Thanks for your thoughts
