I wanted to start my second egg freezing cycle for my June period.
For my first cycle, I started taking norethisterone on day 14 of my prior period.
But I've just realised I'm 5 days late for taking norethisterone.
Can someone please explain the purpose of this for me? I remember that my period was heavier than usual when I took it last time so I'm guessing it's something to fo with thinning my lining? I really don't want to delay until July but am I better off delaying it so I can take norethisterone on time? Is it a waste of time to start taking it now?
Grateful for your responses!

That will be fine then! As long as you've got chance to take it for a minimum of 6 days. And when you stop your period should start 3 or 4 days later. I usually start it on day 15 of my cycle!
In fact the last nurse told me I shouldn't start it before day 14 as my body needs to be in the luteal phase! (Even though or the first cycle I took it on day 9 but since then they've always said day 14 or later!!) You should be fine!! But let the clinic know and they will adjust for you if needed. But I'd say take it in the meantime!
Thank you! Interesting to know that it shouldn't be taken before day 14.
I actually found some norethisterone from my last cycle, so I took one last night (which would be day 18). I spoke to the clinic today and they said that should be fine. So there will be sending me a full prescription and I can continue to plan for June!
I would check with the clinic but I think it’s used purely to regulate periods so the process can be more controlled, please let me know what they say.

Thank you. So I found some norethisterone from my last cycle. I took one last night (day 18) and I spoke to the clinic today. They said that's fine and they're sending me a prescription so I can continue for June egg retrieval.
Hello, I've been looking at my notes today and I start my norethisterone on day 21 of my cycle, but I'm on a short protocol, I don't know whether that makes a difference.
Thank you. I think I'm on short protocol too. I take norethisterone before my period starts, then on day 2/3, i'll be taking menopur for 10 ish days until egg retrieval.
But interesting to know that you can take it from day 21. I found some norethisterone from my first cycle so I took one last night (day 18). I spoke to the clinic and they said that still works for my June egg retrieval.
