Advice - late period before IVF cycle round 3

Hi everyone

Hope you’re all keeping well and having a good start to the week. Sorry I have been a bit quiet on here lately, been taking a break while in between cycles.

I am waiting for my AF to arrive before we start our next round of IVF which is going to be a short protocol with milder stims.

We tried naturally this month and I ovulated on day 18 (was tracking it). We went through a cycle in August and this is my second AF since our failed cycle (we didn’t go to transfer due to our embryos stopping developing from between days 4-6).

I have done two pregnancy tests, one today and one two days ago but both weren’t my first wee of the day. I was due on day 30. Never been this late before in our whole trying to conceive journey (four years!) but wondering if it could be linked to our latest treatment cycle? My thyroid is all good (for once!), just had it tested in the last few days. Also had a HyCoSy scan to check my tubes earlier this month and it was all clear although they said I have moderate to severe adenomyosis.

Any advice really appreciated. Can you get a negative pregnancy test when three days late?

I’m sure I’m probably not pregnant but my mind is going crazy wondering if I could be. Have had a few niggles and sore boobs but not my usual AF symptoms of a headache and period pains yet. 🤔🤷‍♀️Weird!

Hi Kat. rom a medical point of view, it can take up to 3 months for a cycle to return to what is normal for you. Pleased to read that you've had your Fallopian tubes checked before proceeding again. Just wanted to wish you all the best when you get started, and for success of course. Diane

Thanks very much Diane for getting back to me. As you say it’s probably my previous treatment but it’s so hard not to get my hopes up when we have been trying naturally this month. Hopefully things will get moving soon. Thanks for your best wishes, it is really appreciated.

If you ovulated on day 18 I would say AF isn't due for a couple of more days. For me, my period is usually 14/15 days after ovulation and as you ovulated on day 18, I would think AF should arrive around day 32/33...not sure what day you are on just now.xx

Thanks Cinderella, that’s true. I haven’t tracked my ovulation for a while and it was a bit later than when I have tracked it in the past. Currently on day 33. xx

So annoying when you are needing to get it to get started on the next bit however a positive would obviously be better.xx

Yes exactly, I really want to get on with our next cycle but also trying not to get too carried away with the thought that we might have fallen naturally. Makes you go a bit crazy! 🤪Thanks again for your message, really appreciate it. xx

Still no sign of AF, losing my mind now! Never been this late in my life! Got more pregnancy tests being delivered tomorrow. I’m sure it’s just my body playing tricks on me but it’s driving me mad! 🤪xx

It finally arrived on day 36! Sad our hopes of it being our miracle pregnancy are over but glad we can start our third cycle now. Got my first scan tomorrow. xx
