Anyone had a very strange/ late 2nd AF after failed natural cycle?

I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation to me as its so annoying and have absolutely no idea what is going on with AF at the moment. So we had a failed natural cycle about 6 weeks or so ago and I had a full on bleed (before I even got to OTD :()...it lasted a while and then stopped, and started up again (only 2 days after it stopped and only for another 2 days). I spoke to the hospital and they said it was all fine and to just let my body adjust. We have 1 frostie left and as I do long protocal/ cycles with ICSI, I was told I could give the hospital a call on day 1 of my next AF, as I would get another one mid cycle anyway. I was due on nearly 2 weeks ago, and did think I may be late, due to the longer last AF and the stopping/ start of it. I thought I was getting it on Friday, but nothing has really progressed with it..Its more like spotting and definitely not a proper AF. I am definitely not counting this as an AF and wont be calling the hospital to start yet, but wondered if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them? Maybe I am just skipping an AF due to an extra long/ stop/ start one last month??! Crazy lol. When you want the damn witch to stay well away, she appears and when you want her.....nope on vacation! LOL. Any help or advice would be amazing, thank you xxx

Sorry to hear you are in a pickle. I haven't had a natural cycle but after all my failed rounds I have always found my cycles completely screwed. One cycle I bled 9dp3det full on AF, then nothing again for 72 days, then a 10 day AF followed by another 2 days AF 2 weeks later and then another AF 2 weeks after that! I think its very common for everything to get a bit screwed by all the drugs and the fact you have been PUPO for a while. I also think the more you want AF to show up the less she does!! I am sure she will soon and you will be able to start and all is fine. You can always ask your clinic - when I asked mine they said it was perfectly normal and thats why they scanned before they start just to check nothing is amiss.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay. Sorry you also had such unpredictable cycles too, like I did! Exactly, its so frustrating isn't it... you are right though, I spoke with our clinic and they said the same..it was just that it hadn't happened to me like this before...but all cycles are different and this is why this site is so helpful and reassuring I think, as we need others to point this out to us at times, when we are so in the middle of it all and our minds feel blurred and we cant see it!

Finally AF has arrived and in full force lol.. so ready to start up again for our FET. Good luck on your journey too and thanks for replying xx

I had a weird second cycle after one of my fails too. My period went AWOL for around 43 days if I remember correctly....nothing no spotting or anything....just arrived late. Hoepfully its not to far away now. You're right not to count this as a new cycle for starting again, you want to a proper one with flow. So bloody annoying isnt it, that witch has a lot to answer for! Ha ha haxx

Hi Cinderella, thank you for your reply, apologies for the delay. Oh wow, that is a long time, so its not just me! Yes defo wasnt going to count that as an AF, but she has now arrived and in full force so called the clinic and starting the meds on day 21 This blimmin witch certainly does have a lot to answer for you, you are right there! That's great news, at least you have something to aim for now! Im just waiting on mine to start my next FET. Been a long wait but at least my cycles have settled down so getting there slowly!xx

Thank you! Yes I was so relieved to finally get it properly! Crazy isnt it?! In a couple of months I will be praying it never appears for at least 9!!! Oh how exciting! How are you feeling about it? When do you expect/ want the dreaded witch to appear? Yeah I know what you mean... I get so impatient and always just want to crack on with another round, but you are right, its important to let our bodies get back to some normality (whatever that is!!) before starting again and it always surprises me, how quick actually it comes back round again xx

Should hopefully be here Monday or Tuesday....dont want it before then! We have transfer booked so need to stay on track! Im feeling ok, bit nervous and need to gather some positivity but hopefully going out to sunny Athens for my treatment will be just the ticket. Best of luck.xx

Oh wow! So your transfer gets booked in advance, is that because you have your treatment in Athens? (not sure if you live over there or travel for treatment, sorry!) Ahhh normal feelings then...I feel exactly the same nervous/ excited/ apprehensive! You name it! Ahh what is Athens like? I bet its beautiful. Yes its booked in advance, Ive had a few now and we know how I respond to meds etc so can book our flight....unfortuately dont live in Athens. Its lovely, out there. Very busy city but done all the sight seeing so now its just spending time on the beach with nice food! I dont have to down regulate so not sure how our dates will work out....transfer end of October. Always good to have a cycle buddy!xx

Gotcha! I see, sounds like a lovely break with it too. Spending time on the beach with nice food sounds like a perfect way to relax. Ohhh not too long away then...mine will be a bit longer than that...but please let me know how you get on and will have everything crossed for you! xxx

Hi Michael lol I loved ur last line haha .. I obviously don’t want ur hopes up but I will just tell u my experience when I had my fresh ivf cycle it was negative ofcouse I bleed for 9days very heavy then I was desperately waiting for my af to come but no sign of af waited for 2 months then called my clinic doctor told me to test just in case and to my surprise I was PREGNANT.. I hope everything goes well with u x

Hey! ha ha I know so ridiculous isnt it?! I must admit after reading your message it did make me wonder, if though I was pretty convinced it wasnt the case. Thank you for your reply though and thats amazing to hear.... You do hear these stories, but never think it will happen to you!! Hope you are well. I have now got my proper AF and checked in for day 1 and now waiting to start meds in a couple of weeks. Good luck on your journey xx

Sorry to hear that... I tried a natural FET cycle once but it didn't work... they waited more than 30 days and no signs of ovulation! After that the doctor prescribed me a medication to have AF coming quickly, but later that day when my lab results came back (+ the results of the scan) he said it wasn't necessary to take the medication and that I could start right away with Progynova (medicated FET cycle).

I think its very common for everything to get a bit screwed by all the drugs and the fact that we are so stressed.

You can always ask your clinic for a scan before starting the new cycle. My clinic does that to make sure the lining is thin..

The medication was Dydrogesterone (Duphaston®)
