2 days late for period.....

I am 1 or 2 days late for my period (was due Sunday). I took a pregnancy test on Friday (2 days early) and it was negative. I don't know whether to test again.

1/ I have been drinking wine this past week and could that delay my period?

2/ Cycles aren't an exact length anyway

3/ I don't have an unlimited number of pregnancy tests.... lol

4/ I'm scared of the answer being no!

Honestly not sure whether to test or not. Should I give it another day or two to see if I get my period and it's just late this month?

God, I'm so hopeful and this is going to be a massive crash if it's negative.... Cycle so far 33 days, and this is the second longest cycle from the past 12 cycles (apart from after my miscarriage). One cycle at 34 days. Although.... I have had a few cycles of IVF so that may have skewed any of my cycles....

Thanks. A miracle, yes! Lol. I'm just thinking it would be so unlikely as I've had a tough month after the failed IVF cycle....

I really do hope in a weeks time when you test again.. U get a pleasant surprise. U may have had a tough month, but for some people when they get to that "let go stage" where ttc isnt there focus is sometimes magically happens. So i keep telling myself and doing.... but hasnt yet hapnd yet for me lol... we have to be optimsitic and hope for the best. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you 😘😘😘 xxxxx

That's really sweet, but HAHAHA ttc not being my focus πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ˜πŸ˜› I wish! It's always my focus, but it would be hilarious in this month of wine, caffeine, soft cheese, runny eggs, gardening, heavy lifting etc.... Keeping my fingers crossed too but also trying to bring myself back down to earth in case it's a negative. Lots of love xxx

Yeah I know what u mean u want to be optimistic but u don't want to upset yourself so u would rather prepare yourself first. Even thou it would be amazing if you are!. 😘😘😘😘 it's good u fully have unwinded n lifted some restrictions on your body in terms of having a cheeky glass of wine etc.. praying u get a bfp! πŸ’—

Oh I really hope it’s good news for you πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

Would this be your first period since your failed cycle? Mine is always 5-6 days late the month after so it could be that but hoping it’s the other reason!xx

ttcemmieβ€’ in reply toKiboXX

Thanks KiboXX. I had my period on my test date of my failed cycle (incredibly conclusive), but yes, this is my first period since then. Ahhh could be messed up because of IVF, yes, true. It's hard to know having been through 4 rounds in the past year to know what my life/cycles were like before all this!

I think I always ovulate late after a fresh cycle so that why my period is late. Do you know when you ovulated?

I know what you mean, I barely have any β€˜real’ cycles from the last few years to judge what’s normal and not!

If the idea of a negative test is too hard then maybe give it a few more days and see how you’re feeling xx

Oh that's interesting to know that you ovulate late after a fresh cycle. I think I ovulated on the 10th or 11th (could be 9th or 12th either!) looking at my Ava data but I missed a couple of days of data in the key time, so not 100% sure. From the feedback on here going to refrain from testing today, I'll see how I feel tomorrow and the rest of the week....

Good luck lovely, you’ll know if you feel like you need to test or wait xxx

Did you do a first response test? I would wait a few more days in order to avoid disappointment (I had so many!)

I hope you will get your BFP! πŸ’•

Thanks. x It was a Sainsburys-own one. Not a name brand, but it says you can take them early, but can't find what mIU they test.

One of my cycles after a fail took around 42 days to show up. I would wait a few more days, its so crappy seeing those blank tests we all hate so much!!xx

Thanks Cinderella. Really appreciate everyone telling me to wait... it is hard to wait, but then it's also hard to test!

Wine delayed my cycle this month, but only a couple of days and normally they are clockwork. I would give yourself until next sunday as you dont have loads of tests, that way it's been a week since due date. Will be keeping everything crossed for you lovely 🀞🀞🀞 xx

Good call, thanks. I am going to wait as long as I can. Definitely not testing today after these responses. Thank you. xxx

I hope u get a positive resultπŸ™πŸ»

From my experience last year at this time, I had a fail IVF after that month my period was late for 1 week. Was very disappointed. Im dying to have a baby, I moved to Uk to Leeds for a study and I’m thinking to do it again.

Thanks for your response. That's helpful to know that your period was late by a week; it helps me to put my emotions in check about getting too overexcited about what this could be. Sorry you had to go through that. Lots of love xxx

One extra prayer here for you ! I hope it is your time ❀️

I know how you feel! I'm still in exactly the same position as you. Took another test this morning and there is still the faintest of lines. I have no idea when my period is due though so I can't really wait until I'm late. I'm guessing I'm about 11dpo though.

IVF definitely messes with your cycle though so you never know. I would wait until you are expecting your period and then test again. I know the temptation is difficult to resist though so don't be too hard on yourself if you want to test early.

Here if you need to chat xx

Also just to say I am in the same boat as you with the drinking wine and caffeine! It would be so ironic if this is the month for both of us hahaha xx

Hi Stevie. Had no problem waiting on my IVF round (as I know hubby will have killed me), but with my period late it was hard not to get my hopes up this month.... At least you have some lines to help with your hope. I just wish AF would come if I'm not pregnant! Hoping your lines get darker and you can feel more reassured. x

Thank you 😊 they are ridiculously light, they don't even show on a picture. Pretty sure I'm either not pregnant at all or it was a chemical. I tested 2 days ago and it was stark white so it's gone from faint to white to faint. Not looking good!

So sorry yours is negative. It really is so difficult to cope with all of this stress when everything else is going on. Sending lots of love. Xx

ttcemmieβ€’ in reply toStevie85

Sorry it's a tough situation for you too. At least I wasn't full on expecting to be pregnant this month (like I am with IVF). It would have been a shocker if I was pregnant tbh! I'm in a slightly better headspace than last week at least. I think Tiger King has helped with that.... Reminds me maybe my life isn't so messed up!

Hahaha I'm about to watch that! I've heard it's absolutely crazy. I am looking after my mum during lockdown, she has terminal cancer (another thing to worry about!) So we are always looking for things to cheer us up!

I'm definitely not expecting to be pregnant either so I will wait a couple of days and test again and then be done with it. And have a big glass of wine this weekend! X

Sorry to hear about your mum. That's lovely that you're looking after her, though. All I can do for our sets of parents is get the groceries! x
