Viagra/Sildenafil for thickening lining - how did you use it?

Hello,

Could anyone who has used Viagra/Sildenafil for thickening their endometrial lining give me some information about how they used it and whether it worked.

For example, oral or vaginal insertion? And for how many days?

I've tried a whole bunch of things and can't get a lining above 5mm so our clinic is willing to try Viagra but have not used it before.

Thanks very much!

I have real issues with my lining. I had viagra given orally, my clinic told me it wouldn’t work vaginally as it isn’t a pessery.. didn’t work so I tried it vaginally as I had nothing to lose. It didn’t do anything for my lining but I have heard others have good results x

I've followed some of your posts and am sorry to hear about your lining issues. I'm in the same situation, although am just finding out what it is like to be a thin liners as various medical and non medical things I am trying have not helped.

Surrogacy was mentioned as a first time to me on Friday so I guess the options are running out :( Have you had anything that has worked?

Thanks x

I am currently on Trental which is a blood thinner... and that has made my periods a lot heavier and I have got over 6 with a good structure using it. Try not to worry about surrogacy just yet... there maybe lots of other things they can try yet x

Hi, Praying for a family. Thank you for sharing. I hope things worked out. 🤞How long did you have to take the viagra? What was you maximum lining thickness?

I’ve use it my last two FET cycle (from the start of meds). 50mg inserted vaginally morning and eve.

I think it maybe makes a small difference, not massive.

If you get Sildenafil it’s very cheap. Viagra (brand of Sildenafil) is very expensive.x

Thanks very much - that's useful info. I have already done my first scan but was wondering if I could add it now and see if it does anything at all. Otherwise it will be yet another cancelled cycle..

First time round (fresh cycle) I added it in after my scan, so that’s deffo possible. Good luck.x

Hi sazzle2680. Thanks. How long did you use the viagra for?

In my second FET I used it morning and night, from day 1 through to the day before transfer. First time, in Fresh Cycle I added it after lining check scan and used it morning and night until the day before transfer.x

Many thanks, Sazzle2680. What was your lining thickness, if you don't mind sharing?Was/were the cycle(s) successful?

I think it was 6.5mm first cycle and 7.5mm second. I always struggle with lining thickness. First one was successful but ended in early MC, second wasn’t, but I do have massive immunology issues which I believe have been preventing implantation, rather than it specifically being lining issue.

Thank you, sazzle2680. A doctor on duty at my clinic asked me to continue with Sildenafil, when ovulation was confirmed at 8.5mm. The nurse gave me the info and I thought it came from my own consultant. But when I spoke with my own consultant same day, he asked me to stop, not knowing that the other doctor had said to continue. When I asked about that, he said some doctors like to continue and some not. I wonder whether there was some miscommunication somewhere.

It probably won’t do any harm either way. 8.5mm is a good thickness for transfer, another mm or so would be just as good. Hope it goes well.

Thank you, sazzle2680. I understand >9mm is best. So, fingers crossed. If continuing with sildenafil will help, I would like to, though I am in the progesterone stage now. I wonder whether the sildenafil actually helped (perhaps it did)... because my last natural cycle, the lining was 8.6-9mm just before progesterone rise, with no sildenafil.
