Natural FET?

Hi everyone I’m looking for a little advice. My second medicated FET has just failed :( I had a chemical pregnancy from my first in June and just got the devastating negative for this one. Both have been medicated cycles (down reg/progynova/utrogestan) with strong embryos and good lining. I really don’t want to lose more embryos or time.

I’m concerned that the failures might be due to the progesterone pessaries. Sorry to be graphic but it all seems to seep out (sorry!) and I’m also concerned as during a natural cycle after ovulation my resting heart rate on my fit bit rises everyday and the synthetic progesterone doesn’t affect it at all.

I’m considering a natural FET next to see if this helps as I have a regular natural cycle. Any success stories with this? Or anyone else thing progesterone might be the problem? I’m also concerned about how long they’ll make me wait to reset my hormones. Any anecdotal evidence or suggestions will be gratefully received. Thank you xx

Hi Mary,

My body didnt respond well to progesterone pessaries. You could ask for injections. I did daily lubion injections with all my FETs.

Does your clinic offer blood tests for progesterone levels?

Even if they don't, you can ask for injections. That way you know your levels are good.

Good luck x

Thanks love. How many times a day do you do them? I really hate injecting:(

My clinic have never offered this but I’ll bring it up and my next consult and ask. X

I wasn't keen at first but you do get used to it. And, the way I figured, it's a small sacrifice if it helps get a baby on board.

I did them twice a day, morning and evening. Xx

Hi, so sorry to hear about your journey so far it’s so tough. I’m doing a natural FET at the moment, transfer will be Thursday. I have to say it feels amazing to not be taking anything at all!!! I will be on progesterone pessaries and injections post transfer but that’s OK. I’m also having my progesterone checked to ensure it’s at the right level and they’ll adjust my medication accordingly. This is the first time I’ve had injections and they’re once a day. Definitely worth asking questions and exploring different protocols xx

Thank you 😊 I’m sure at my clinic they said no drugs at all, I guess different protocols at different clinics. Did you have to wait long to start? I’m sure they said something about having to wait four months for the drugs to leave your system to do a natural one to me. Dread asking as I hate a wait x

Yes all clinics are definitely different! I was allowed to have my withdrawal bleed after my failed cycle and then go again when my next period started xx

Hello! I’ve just had a failed medicated FET, having a bleed now after stopping all the medicines and thinking of jumping into another FET straight away but natural this time... I also thought of changing as I wasn’t sure whether the progesterone level was right for me.. I didn’t bleed till I withdrew medicine but had all the symptoms (headache etc) I usually experienced right before my period as my hormone level start declining.. so I thought I will let my body deal with things naturally this time.. however I’m now seeing posts that for some girls, ivf had an impact on what used to be regular cycles and I’m now worried!!! I only finished the medicated one now so I have never seen whether my cycle will be normal. Do you know whether if I ovulate around the time I expect it to be then is it all good??

Hello, my clinic used today wait three months between medical and natural. Now they’ve updated that And say you just need to track your ovulation with Clear blue and as soon as you get the smiley face you are ovulating again as can transfer on the next cycle. I got my smiley face 3 weeks after my failed transfer so I booked after my period came at weekend and transfer will be in about two weeks (so nine weeks since last transfer)

However like you I’m reading into everything and am also worried that my cycle was two days longer than normal xx
