Hi all, I’m in such a dilemma about going through further treatment. I had icsi (male factor) in 2015 & it worked first time. I have a beautiful daughter. I had 4 grade 5 & 4 aa embryos frozen for the future but they all failed.
I’m 42 in December. My AMH is 22 which the consultant in Chester said is really good. I was devastated when the 4 FET failed so my husband is reluctant to do it all again. He said we can’t win the lottery twice! He thinks another round will definitely fail as all the other 4 top grade blastocysts did so why would it work five years later.
I keep trying to put it behind me but feel like I want to give it another go. I’m not sleeping thinking about it.
Has anyone else had success at 41?

I think your regret it if you don’t do it again we had a child and then we couldn’t get pregnant again so we did ivf abroad in Greece as it was cheaper plus we needed donor eggs and we were successful we now have twins , the clinic we used were fantastic and very thorough with good sucess rates in people over 40 I was 35 when I got pregnant with the twins , they were our last two embryos and we were in same predicament as you I wanted to try again hubby didn’t but then at the last minute he changed his mind thankfully it worked so we didn’t need to do another cycle.
Congratulations to you. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I feel so much better for talking it through on here because people understand what you are going through. I think I am going to give it one last go xxxx
I have a son from my 4th round Iv done another 3 rounds since that have failed but I’m not giving up my amh is much much lower than yours the way I see it I will never regret trying but will regret not trying! Go with your gut feeling xxx
Hi Jane41! I think your AMH it is very good mine was 15 when I was 33 years old. If you have the resources and you feel like it is going to work give it one more go. You don't want to blame yourself later on. Good luck! 🤞
I’m 40 and have recently got pregnant on my 6th transfer. I was worried about trying again too and felt like maybe I should just be grateful for my daughter and move on, but I also had that nagging feeling.
In the end we bought one of those packages from access fertility- it was two rounds of icsi plus unlimited FETs. Like you I have a good AMH so expected to get a good few eggs and embryos, so unlimited FETs was the biggest draw. But I liked the back up of 2 rounds of icsi as sometimes it take 2 attempts to work out what meds suit your body. With my daughter I got loads of eggs. Second round of icsi almost none, but round three was great and I got lots in the freezer.
Obviously if finances are stretched it’s a tough call. But for me I didn’t want to have regrets later when it really might have become impossible.
I had success at 42 with ICSI (male factor). I have had 3 ICSI's this year and am now 14wks pregnant. My AMH was 5.3 and I am 45 in a month. So yes tell your husband you can win the lottery twice. A really good grade doesn't necessarily equal success. I put in 1 3CC, 1 ungradeable blastocyst and a morula and one of them worked!
So far all good, just got the results of nhs screening for downs etc and has come back ok.
Give it another go, or more! and don't have any regrets
Wow, that is amazing!! Congratulations to you. Thank you for taking the time to reply. This group really is so empowering. Just when I feel like there is no hope, somebody tells me about success. I think I’m going to do it!! Time to give up the wine I think. Good luck with everything xxx
