Hi Birdboy. Oh dear, so sorry to say that it is very high now and looks as if you may be peri-menopausal. It might be an idea to get your AMH (anti Mullerian Hormone) checked too to make sure. This can be done on any day throughout your cycle. Good luck! Diane
Hi Diane, thanks for your reply. That was a bit of a blow as I was kidding myself it might have got a little better after having my endometriosis removed. I have managed to book an appointment regarding my amh. What number would I be looking for, for good and bad news?
Also 2 months ago I had a miscarriage and read you can get false positives with menopause, do you know if this is likely? Thanks again for your help xx
Hi Birdboy. Well an ideal AMH would be around 15, but I think yours will be pretty low. However, they may retake your FSH preferably on Day 2 or 3 o your cycle, just in case it is going up and down temporarily. If so, they may be able to nip in with a treatment cycle and see whether they can rescue a few of your low egg reserve. Diane
Hi Diane, sorry to bother you. But I managed to finally get my amh result. It was 0.5. Very low I have spoken to my doctor who has given me a 1% chance. I have posted on the group for positive outcomes with these kind of results but no reply’s as yet. Have you heard of anyone to go on to conceive with there own eggs? I know I need to come to terms with the fact that I need to give up. But finding it very hard . Thank you xx
Hi Birdboy. Oh dear that is extremely low. However, I have heard of one lady that was successful a few years back, but it is very rare I'm afraid. I expect you have been offered the chance of using an egg donor? Something to seriously teink about, as you get to grow your baby, give birth and breast feed just the same. I realise that we all want our own genetic baby, but it is an amazing opportunity of becoming a mother. Maybe you are prepared to have that one chance using your own egg, then you might find it easier to move on and try an egg donor, should you feel that could be for you. So much to think about. Diane
Hi Diana thank you for replying. I already have a genetic daughter I was lucky enough to conceive 2 years ago on my second round of icsi. So I really didn’t want to do donor eggs. I just don’t know if it’s worth giving it one go or if it’s a total waste of many and just need to get my head around the fact I won’t be able to have another. It’s so hard xx
Hi Birdboy. Why don't you see if you can have some implications counselling to talk over your options. I always believe that it's OK to try if you've got the money - who wouldn't, but we all have mortgages/rent to pay and jobs are not so secure these days. You've got your little one to bring up too, so maybe if you have the money, give it a go with your own eggs, then should it not work perhaps you can move on, I don't know. However, it can be difficult mixing the 2, having your own genetic child then a donor egg/sperm, so talk it over with a counsellor. You could try bica.net a charity that deal just will all fertility issues and relationships during treatment. There is a charge, but have a look and see what you think. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Diane
Thanks so much Diane I really appreciate your help and advice I was going to look into counselling anyway so I shall look into your recommendation. Thanks again xx
Thank you! I have just put a post on today also about my FSH levels at 10.2 and LH levels at 5.9, and whether again they are normal and good levels for IVF. Thanks again!
I'm sorry to keep messaging but what do you mean by should be ok to stimulate? I was given these bloods results with very little explanation of what they mean. Thanks again!
Hi Laura. Should you need IVF, then you will need to have your ovaries stimulated with a drug to grow more follicles which will hopefully grow large enough for eggs to get into, following what is known as the "trigger" shot to release eggs into the follicles ready for egg collection. Diane
