Congrats, super exciting! All the best for the cycle hun 🤞💕
I think there are multiple options for protocols for loads of different reasons. Some doctors will just prefer one over the other. Feels like they try hedge their bets in the right direction based on all the overall issues, but it's not always an exact science it seems xx
Im not sure of the exact science but i think its to do with having better control over your hormones. I have always done short protocol (no buserelin) for my fresh ivf and any medicated FETs. However my clinic now tells me they prefer to do long protocol (with buserelin) as it gives better results. Theres always new research coming out! Ive been injecting it just over a week now and ive just been so tired! Apart from that felt ok. Good luck! Xx
From what I know, clinics normally only use short protocol (no suppression) for those at risk of over stimulation (high AMH or PCOS) or with low egg reserves as they focus on quality over quantity. Anyone else normally goes on long protocol (with suppression) as you would normally get more eggs this way.
Thank you! Feels good to finally get going and be doing something ! Ah that makes sense actually, I’m 34 and my sister was 40. So that’s probably the difference!
I was on buserelin for my frozen transfer last year. My periods were all over the spot and my lining at times had been low so the drs wanted to take control.
I had a few side effects from it but I was also on other meds so not sure exactly which caused them. They weren't too bad I was tired and had hot flushes.
Ive just been told we can start our second cycle, it's that exciting/ nerve racking feeling at the minute. Good luck xxx
Everything worked as they had hoped and had very few symptoms, lining was great and they retrieved 8 eggs. So don’t worry if you are feeling good! I got my period on the day I was supposed to so all was fine!
Unfortunately my cycle ended when no eggs fertilised. But the drug’s up until that point worked as they should!
