Timing of stim injections

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all well.

I’m after some advice please. I’m about to start my 3rd round of IVF (and completely relate to Abloured84 post about going through the motions, thank you for writing that). I have a wedding to go to in the middle of my injection stage and I’m trying to figure out how best to manage it. So I wondered how precisely at the same time of day do you do your injections? Do you think it matters much if it’s an hour or so out? And also, does anyone have a view on the best time to do them?

Thank you! X

I asked my clinic about this and the nurse told me it doesn’t have to be that precise, within a few hours is fine. They suggest between 6-8pm, she said they only specify this so that you get into a routine with it and don’t forget.

Hi lovely, I was really fastidious about doing mine at the same time each day, but also had to do some in restaurants, events and work….. there is definitely some flex but I would try and keep them as regular as possible xx

Thank you, that's good to know. I'm planning on doing them as close to the same time as possible. My bag for a wedding looks very different now to a few years ago 😄 x

Did 4 fresh cycles and I always tried to take my injections around the same time but sometimes I would have sth and take my injections 2 to 3 hours before or after the usual time and honestly didn't effect my outcome

Hey! Glad I have a fellow “motions” buddy ! 😂 how are you feeling now ? I am very much still plodding along feeling meh.

I have my final scan today and then EC on Monday- just want it all over tbh! Anyway, I saw your post and related as I have a wedding on Saturday. What was the verdict on timings? I have been doing my two (one is fridge) at 7pm. I was thinking I’d have to leave my family wedding early to come home and do them (especially as I can’t pack the fridge one in my sparky wedding clutch!) what did you decide to do after ? X

Hello! Oh how funny that we’ve got so much of the same going on! I’m definitely still feeling meh. I’m just waiting for my cycle to start so should start injecting on Monday. The verdict was same-ish time every night, an hour or so out is ok. I also have a refrigerated one so am thinking the same as you, leave the wedding early. Only one person there knows what I’m doing, so I’m hoping I can discreetly leave without too many questions.

I hope your final scan went well and wishing you all the luck for egg collection. And I hope you get to enjoy the wedding! (Just realised it might be today rather than next Saturday, sorry!). Xx

Hey ! Wedding was today. We just got home . The hospital said we could move our usual two jabs to this morning before we left (to prevent having to return home early) but they said I HAD to be home by 8.30 for my trigger so we have just got in now after sneaking off ! 🙄 . Trigger tonoght and EC Monday. Can’t wait for it to be over xx hope you’re coping ok xx

Aw thank you for checking in . EC was actually a bit of a disaster! I ended up fainting as they couldn’t find a vein to use and they were literally poking me for 45 mins ! 🙄 then we ended up with only three eggs and I assumed it was game over but we (miraculously) has two good quality fertilise . They put them back in at day 2 🙄 as we only had the two , so now it’s the airing game !

Enjoy the wedding! How are things your end xx

Hello!I’m sorry to hear your EC was a bit of a disaster. How are you doing now? I hope the 2ww is going ok.

I had EC today, all went well with 13 collected, but I’ve been here before so trying not to get my hopes up too much.

Really hope you’re doing well. X

I agree with the others. A few hours flex doesn’t matter too much if it’s stims. I remember one cycle being so devoted to the time I ended up trying to mix menopur in a restaurant toilet only they had movement sensor lights so all the lights went off and I thought it was a power cut and then dropped a vial down the loo and had to fish it out in the dark and wash it etc before mixing OMG it was so stressful I wish I had just waited an hour and done it at home!! Good luck xx

Oh this has made me smile! What a nightmare, your heart must have sunk when you dropped it. I will keep this and mind and definitely just go home on Saturday. Thanks for sharing. Xx

We were at a wedding overseas in the middle of injections for our first cycle. As a newbie back then DH did all my injections because I was too scared to do them to myself. Anyway, we sneak off to the toilets to do the injection but there is only one toilet. Nobody is around we go in the cubicle and he jabs me. By the time we come out a queue had formed and we got cheered on our way out and during the rest of the evening random people we didn’t know would ask us did we hear about the couple who got caught shagging in the loos. Little did they know!! If only that was how we could make babies it would have been a lot more fun 🤣
