Solo IVF with DE on a very small budget - clinic recommendations/advice?!

Hi,

I did three rounds of solo IVF in July to Nov 2023, none of which worked, and then my life fell apart.

Now I am almost 44 years old, and want to try one last time before it is really really too late. I also think at my age DE (with donor sperm) is probably a more likely option.

Previously, I ended up with 2 x 3-day 3BC eggs from all three rounds, but neither transfer stuck. I have adenomyosis, so I know that can make the transfer success more difficult - any advice on extra treatments to help with 'sticking'?

With a very small budget (£5k plus maybe able to scrape together a very little more) I want to go for the best possible chance/number of chances I can.

Looking for any advice on treatments, clinics (any country) or options to go for very very gratefully received!

Hi dogbiscuit. I understand your frustrations we had 7 rounds before moving to DE but only ever got 1 embryo. We went to a clinic in Spain for our DE round but being honest it cost pretty similar to here (€11,000) and travelling costs on top. We did get 6 day 5 blasts, the first is my little boy 🥰 and the other 5 are frozen. I have heard that treatment in Greece, Cyprus and Czech Republic can be cheaper, so maybe some of the other ladies can advise around pricing there. I wish you lots of luck on your journey x

Hi,

I’m in a similar situation to you. I’m 45 with two failed transfers. I’m going to create a new batch (double donation) in Spain as much cheaper. I’m not sure of the total costs yet (maybe a little bit over your budget) but I live close to an airport and it’s only a 2 hour flight. The clinic also offers embryo donation of which will probably fit your budget as you can buy 1 embryo. So I would look for places abroad that offer embryo donation.

Hey xx

My clinic is in Greece. A girl I met here done double donor and paid £7k just for the egg and sperm. Transfers are around £1300 and then you’ve got all your meds plus flights, accommodation, food!

I am wondering whether it would be cheaper for you to look at embryo adoption instead?

Have you tried down reg prior to transfer? I have endo and I done two months worth of prostap to try suppress any inflammation. My friend has adenomyosis and she’s currently doing a 3 month down reg protocol with prostap before her transfer.

Wishing you lots of luck xx

Hi, I don’t have advice RE: budget as my treatment was around £10K for one DE cycle. But I just wanted to say I’ve just turned 44 and recently had a baby via DE and DS.

I had 4 failed transfers including 2 outstanding’ embryos from DE. Then I did the EMA Alice and ERA and found out I needed probiotics and to change the timing of my transfer. My 5th transfer worked! It’s more expense as it was around £2k for the test but I only had one embryo left and it was so worth it for me as it gave me the answers and I finally got my baby girl. Good luck x

The ERA, ALICE are good to know. I did down regulation before my first transfer and probiotics, but only for a month and I also had a polyp removed. I have been taking Myo-inositol which is also meant to help, but more investigating would probably be helpful.

Think I need to magically find some more money!

Hi lovely my clinic is in North Cyprus I did OE but for what you want think it’s about 6500 euros that gives you a min of 10 eggs transfer at blast stage and freezing for a year

The meds for after transfer come to about 900 that’s for 12 weeks of everything

They give aspirin steroids Lubion blood thinner as standard

The meds before will be 67 pound that’s with change of prescription to English and next day delivery

You can get flights and accommodation cheap depending on where you want to stay and how long I normally stay for 2 weeks make a bit of a holiday out of it but you don’t need to stay that long

They drive on the same side of the road as us so cheap to hire a car and get about and also have taxi at every hotel if you don’t drive and for transfer day

Really good doctor she’s a women and the coordinator is a lovely person

I had success there first time after trying for years in the uk with no joy

If you need any information lovely just let me no

Good luck with where ever you decide

X

Hi, Thank you so much! Would you DM me the clinic info? I was looking at North Cyprus but I know being a single woman is a bit tricky there - if they accept solo patients it would be good. I am coming to terms with the fact I am going to have to find some more money from somewhere!

Hi. I’ve just started out with a clinic in Latvia. They seem great so far. Solo, donor sperm - possibly DE too depending on how it’s going. Feel free to DM for some more details!

Donor embryos would be more cost effective.

Lowest price you can find in this world is in Greece with Dr Vasileios Sarafis, in Thessaloniki.

I did a natural modified cycle and I was shocked how low the price was.

He has a private office, but for egg collection he will take you to Embryolab, which is good. Met with Embryologist before and she called me afterwards again and had answered all questions afterwards.

Dr Sarafis is good. He will answer all your questions and his knowledge is extensive. I learned many things for him. I asked him about PRP procedure myself. He said sometimes make a difference, sometimes not. But he said is the exercise , 20 min per day, that will have the biggest impact on the number of eggs and quality. This showed me he has integrity; instead of trying to sell me something, he was honest.

He also emphasised the importance of magnesium, vitamin D and antioxidants.
