Update: IUI

Thought I would offer an update. I mentioned previously that I was on 75ui of menopur and then my appointment for my 11 day scan was on Thursday. Well, they discovered 1 cyst but 3 17mm follicles which almost would have meant I was over stimulated but I agreed for the procedure to go ahead anyway.

Yesterday at 3pm I had my first round of IUI.

The pain was minimal, it was more of an unusual feeling but nothing even close to the hycosy. The nurse said everything looks great. And now for the 2 week wait until I can take a pregnancy test.

I’m very nervous but also ready for whatever outcome. If it’s not good news, I can always try again, except next time I will know what to expect.

Anyone else out there recently had their first try? Anyone successful on their first try. I think the stats are around 10% in my clinic. 3% of which were twins.

Hey, yeah of course, I had 3 rounds of IUI, 1st and 2nd failed but the third ended in an ectopic pregnancy. Do you have any specific questions?

Thanks for your response. No specific questions but I’m wondering how often it works? Looking though the forums on here there doesn’t seem to be many positives for IUI?x

Well I think the success of IUI depends on overall fertility. The medication will be tailored to what your individual issues are, whether you don't produce enough eggs, ovulate or whatever. I have PCOS and my issue was they were unsure whether I produce follicles with eggs at ovulation.

It is certainly worth the try there are plenty of success stories on here too but its obviously not as successful as IVF.

Not what you're looking for?
