Hi, I just firstly wanted to thank everyone for their support after our recent disastrous first round. I have now had a follow up with my clinic (different consultant but actually didn’t make a difference) they have suggested that when we are ready to try again that we will try a long protocol. The reason being that my follicles were widely spread in size and they’d hope to get more of a cluster of follicles around the same size. Wether this works or not I don’t know but I am glad they have approached it with a different plan, I really didn’t want them to just say oh well just unlucky try the same thing again. Just wondered if anyone could give me their experience of long protocol. Looking at down reg buserilin, stim with menopur 450 (as previous) then trigger with gonasi. I am thinking of waiting 2-3 months just to give us some head space then try again. Honestly you ladies (and men) absolute heroes, no one can ever expect the rollercoaster of hope and disappointment of infertility xx
Update: Hi, I just firstly wanted to... - Fertility Network UK
Update
I’ve done 3 long and 1 short. I found them very similar. Some ladies suffer on the buserlin though. Good luck.
I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant on my 2nd long cycle, exactly the same as you describe. Fingers crossed it works for you 🥰
2 long and 2 short protocols. My long protocols were much better! 🤞for you x
Hi sorry to hear your first round didn’t go to plan, this happened to us recently too. We had the long protocol and I didn’t find the buserelin too bad but I know everyone is different. I did get hot flushes and a bit tired occasionally but that was it. Also had gonasi and which again was fine. Had to switch to short for an FET when the they couldn’t do the transfer and I was a lot more teary and emotional on the short.
Is your follow up just a review of how things went and what they might do differently next time? We have ours coming up but I have a feeling they might say to me just give it another go with everything the same.
Wishing you so much luck with the next round. Will have everything crossed for you xx
Thank you that’s really kind. Yes it was a follow up to discuss how it bad it was and what we can do to change next time. I was really worried about the same thing of them just saying give it another go the same so I’m pleased they want to try long protocol. It may make no difference but I feel happier changing the approach, who knows how our bodies react to these things. We didn’t get any fertilised eggs never mind embryos so I’m hoping for a better response 🤞 how are things going for you?xx
We are just waiting until the 1st July for our appt but miscarried on the 17th May so its feeling like forever! I haven’t had a period since so just waiting for that to come and then have to wait for another before I can start meds again for a second FET.
Really hope you get some fertilised eggs next time round hopefully the first one has given them more to go from with what you need. Best of luck 💛 xx
Glad you got seen earlier than the original date you were given. Never did a long protocol as both my clinics preferred short for women my age.- I am 43 years of age. All the best with your next cycle 🙏🏾🌈
Keeping my fingers crossed and thinking of you! xx
