No ovulation... will this effect treatment?

Morning all, I have always had very regular periods but I had blood tests which showed no signs of ovulation. I had high levels of prolactin and the consultants assumed this was the reason. My prolactin has been reduced by being on bromocriptine however I have been doing ovulation tests and it never says I am ovulating.

I am due to have “the teach” on the 23rd July where they go through everything and then I should start ivf(l (ICSI) a couple of weeks later.

Is this going to make them not go ahead with treatment or should it be ok to still start?

The fact that you dont ovulate shouldnt affect your treatment at all. So long as your hormones like prolactin are under control then its ok. To be honest the clinics take full control of your body with medication so they control the stimulation of your ovaries, when the eggs are ready to be triggered (fake ovulation) and collected so try not to worry!! Good luck.xx

Oh thank you so much. You’ve made my day! My prolactin is all back to normal and then when I’ve been resting ovulation this week I literally thought that this was going to stop my treatment! Xx

Hi Amy. Not at all. Once they have all your hormone results sorted, they will sort out medication to suit you and make you produce many follicles, which hopefully will contain quite a few viable eggs once you have your trigger shot. Try not to worry too much, as I'm surer you will be sorted. Hopefully all works out well fr you. Diane
