Thanks to so many of you responding to my last post. I expressed my feelings and how gutted I was to not have had any communication from her in my week off sick or when I returned back to work. And she was genuinely mortified at herself. She said she’d not contacted me in fear of saying the wrong thing and triggering me. And that she didn’t do a “return to work” because she was worried everything was too formal. She just wanted me to have space.
I know a lot of you expressed that was probably what was the case. After having spoken to her, she did say that I can ask for more time off (paid sick leave), ask for lighter projects and that generally she would help manage my return back. I wish she’d have said this all on her own initiative as it would have saved a whole week of additional anxiety / stress. But I’m grateful that we eventually did have that conversation.
Thanks so much to everyone that responded and sent good wishes my way x

Great news! So pleased that it went well and that she responded in a supportive way. I think a supportive manager can make the world of difference in what is such a difficult process. Good on you for communicating how you felt - it’s not easy! Big hugs xxx
It still is a grey area people don’t know what to do or say so by saying nothing they hope it’s the right thing. Glad she responded the way she did. Take care 🤗🤗
