I am due to start a new cycle of IVF soon but before that I'm going to have another hysteroscopy to try and help as my last FET resulted in a chemical. My question is, is it more harm than good? Does it leave scarring? Last time they wanted to clear some excess tissue and take a biopsy. Does it really help with implantation? Has anyone got their bfp afterwards? I'm going to be awake during the procedure and it was quite painful last time.

Hey 😊 I think so, they call it a hysteroscopy. I've had polyps removed the 1st time but last time was more to take a biopsy as my lining was thick and had excess tissue 😕 but I think it is a scratch x
Hi Littlepeax, not sure if you've seen this study: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... but it does seem to improve implantation. Hope all goes okay tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you xx
With my first 2 cycles implantion was successful for both embryos but I had 1 more fresh and 3 frozen unsuccessful transfers after and my consultant recommended a hysteroscopy after which I had and next frozen transfer was successful
Hi, sounds like your having the scratch which is a really quick procedure I had this on my last ivf round ( which worked ) to help implantation and I was awake for, I had a hysteroscopy in between ivf cycles to remove ( I think the doctor called it adejions ) also had polyps removed the same time whilst asleep - good luck x
Thank you ♥️💫 its defo a hysteroscopy as I have a letter. Yes think they will removed scar tissue etc but while I'm awake 🙈 glad it worked for you, fingers crossed x
Good luck Littlepeax I’ve had a hysteroscopy and was worried too about making things worse with scarring but believe it’s all fine - although still waiting for my success story!
Hi, I am also due to have one at some stage. I would be very interested to know how long you have to wait between the hysteroscopy and the transfer. What made them decide you need one in the first place and then a second and third one?
Hey .. I'm planning on starting my next cycle this month so hopefully soon after this hysteroscopy I will start taking the medication. I had my first one during my laparoscopy surgery 2 years ago to remove endometriosis. They noticed I had polyps too so decided to do a hysteroscopy at the same time to remove those. 2nd one I had just before my first IVF in Sep as they noticed my lining was very thick and wanted to take a biopsy for cancer (just in case) all came back fine and they managed to clear some excess tissue too. This time they think my lining is quite thick again and want to have another clear out lol x
No not this time, think I have a build up of scar tissue that needs removing. I had a chemical last time so they just want to help increase my chances x
How did they notice the scar tissue? (I am asking because I have never been checked so I am wondering whether I could also have scar tissue as I had a miscarriage).
If you have scar it may prevent the embryo to grow. They did biopsy so maybe they wanted to make sure your health is ok. My gynecologist told me scars can make pregnancy complicated even in the delivery.. but mine was asherman so my knowledge is limited to only that syndrome .. if your dr is good just trust them xx
