My partner is pregnant for the first time, and symptoms and timings since last unprotected sex and her last period would suggest she is six weeks pregnant rather than 2 weeks as the nurses constantly tell my partner. She had what we thought was a period on the 7th to 11th of April, but I know it's not uncommon for bleeding in early pregnancy. The period before that was the 10th to the 12th of march, and the last date we had intercourse was in the fertile window on the 26th of march.
She is autistic, and because of covid I cant go with her into the hospital. She has been constantly dismissed by those supposed to help her as she looks younger but she is 24. I'm shocked by the service she has been given.
Please if you have any shared experiences, they would help to relax her a bit.

Well we used a test that suggested 2 to 3 weeks pregnant on the 23rd of april. The hcg levels suggested she was at least 4 weeks pregnant when she had a blood test on Friday.
Im presuming you used a clearblue test with the weeks indicator? hCG levels can vary greatly in pregnancy and the clear blue for 2-3 wks can be anything from 153 to 2753 so you cant really put a figure on the number of wks with hCG levels. However yes if she was 2-3wks on 23rd April then she would be around 5-6wks by now. What were her levels on Friday, did they tell you? Does that correlate with her period before what you thought was a period in April?
Ahhh ok that would make your dates seem correct! I see they are repeating her bloods today in a reply below. I dont want to freak you out but 1008 is fairly low for a 6 week pregnancy unfortuantely. Hopefully its maybe just a late implanter and the levels have risen in the bloods today. Most hospitals wont scan until levels reach over the 10,000 mark.xx
Sounds odd so when did she actually have her last period? because if it was the 7th April shes only on day 21. Did they not do a pregnancy test or bloods to confirm? they probably wont do a ultrasound if they think the 7th April was her last period far too early.
The bloods suggested she had a hcg of over 1000, so they cancelled the scan and gave her a blood test today instead. Either way she was crying her eyes out, and has come away feeling worse. Shes have symptoms suggesting she is further along than the hospital believe
If she has told them shes had a period 7-11th they'll use that as the last period date tbh 1000 is a good number if that was her last period, dont be disheartened go for the next hcg you want to see doubling. They wont scan at 4 weeks as theres nothing to see which if they did would probably make her more anxious do you not think? if they scan her at 6w and shes 8w then you can say they were wrong but as long as your baby is healthy.
She won’t be 6 weeks lovely if she had a period then!though bleeding is common in early pregnancy however.do you think she conceived earlier ?if you get a clear blue pregnancy test and check what it says take a picture of it and show early pregnancy unit if you think she needs to be seen also her age should not mean she’s not taken seriously unless they are that dismissive and useless !I had my first baby at 19 and I already have a baby face so imagine how old I looked I always got told and still get told I don’t look old enough to have kids I’m now in my 30s you should get adequate care regardless of your age 24 is not young to have a baby.you can always ring epu to find out more yourself and to show your concern or even complain it’s your right x
Firstly, congratulations on your partner's pregnancy. It must be really tough being unable to attend the hospital to support your partner for her appointments.
I don't have personal experience unfortunately as we're still waiting to conceive but I have 2 close friends whose dates were out by 1-2 months in very early pregnancy purely because they were breastfeeding at the time and their periods were haywire. I understand your partner isn't breastfeeding but my point is - the dating scans further down the line will resolve all of your concerns and growth measurements will be a reasonably good indicator of gestation.
The best you can do right now is reassure your partner that it will all work itself out and focus on keeping calm for a healthy mind and healthy baby. Best wishes xx
My period in March was the 10th to the 12th, and they have been those same dates each month for the past 6 months or so.
In April, I had what I thought was a period from the 7th-11th April. I thought that was strange that it was earlier and longer than usual but in the past they’ve been irregular so didn’t think much of it.
On Tuesday 21st April, I started getting spotting and cramps. These carried on until Thursday 23rd when I decided to take a test to rule out pregnancy. Obviously, the pregnancy test came out positive. I ended up taking 2 regular cheap tests and one clear blue test that came up as 2-3 weeks pregnant. I then went to my GP where I did a urine sample, then went to the hospital where I did a second urine sample and also a blood test that indicated my HCG levels were 1008. They booked me in for a scan today (Monday 27th) but I received a call yesterday saying the levels were too low for a scan and that I’d have a blood test instead.
I did some research and matched up my dates and it simply does not match up to being two weeks pregnant.
The only times we’ve had intercourse have been on the 26th of March (In my fertile window) and the 14th of April which would simply be too late to indicate a pregnancy as of this week.
They brushed me off because of the period I thought I had, but I’m convinced that it wasn’t a proper period.
If you had sex on the 14th April you could have ovulated then?
Maybe you could pay for a private scan based on the dates you believe that you fell pregnant 27th March and they can let you know as if you are six weeks they should see something but if you are only 2-4 they won’t. Sometimes it’s easier to seek the information you need yourself for your peace of mind
