Progesterone level- ovulation

Good morning everyone,

I have been feeling pretty crap for the last couple of weeks. Our NHS fertility centre is now closed completely meaning my appointment to be weighed and put on the waiting list for IVF has been cancelled. I have worked my but off for the last 6 weeks to get my BMI down, just to get put on the list, and now who knows how long it will be before we are eligable for treatment 💔😔

I am just going through our last write up letter from our appointment in February, and wanted to ask for some help explaining my FSH, LH & Progesterone levels.

I have a 28 to 30 day cycle- my FSH was tested as 6.0, my LH was 4.3 and my progesterone was 64.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS but have been told that from my blood tests it looks like I am ovulating. However I can never seem to get a clear reading from ovulation tests, and find it really hard to trust NHS doctors from bad previous experiences. I know our NHS is incredible, I love them- but have had a few ups and downs in the past that make me double check all my results for myself.

Would be so grateful if someone could shed some light on the numbers for me.

Hope everyone is staying safe & being kind to themselves ♡

Thank you xx

Your progesterone levels would suggest that you are ovulating. Your progesterone rises when your body releases the egg and the follicle that its come from produces progesterone to prep your body for the fertilised egg implanting around day 21. If this doesnt happen the levels drop and you get your period. Anything over 30nmol/l suggests ovulation.xx

Cinerella, you always come to my rescue- thank you!

I researched it online and thought that something might be wrong as the number was much higher than 30? But sounds like it's ok 🤞

Sending you lots of virtual hugs at this strange time xx

Hi lovely. Can't help on the numbers as I think I've only had my AMH tested! Or I only know that one anyway.... Really hope we can all get back on this journey soon. I am also pretty down about being in this position of no treatment. xxxx

I know there are people in much worse positions than myself- half way through cycles etc, and my heart breaks for them. Just feeling really blue knowing everything is going to be pushed back so much further than before.

The wait list in our area is already about 8 months long, so could be another year before we make it to the top of the list 💔

Xx

Hi Lavander. Your FSH level should be between 2-10, so yours is good. Your LH should read about the same but a little higher. If it below 3 that us indicative of PCOS, so I would say your hard work losing weight is paying off as your progesterone should read over 30, so yours is telling you that you definitely ovulated that month. Just keep having regular sex every 3 days or more often if you want, and let's hope that works for you! I wish I could guarantee that happening, but be reassured that your blood results are good. Ah thank you so much Diane!

Unfortunately we have the added issue of low sperm count / motility & morphology, but are still praying that it may happen one day!

2 years of trying so far.

Thank you for your reassuring reply xx
