Does my day 21 progesterone level mean I've ovulated?

Hi, I am new to this forum and was wondering if any of you are able to help me.

I have been trying to get pregnant for over 3 years, with no success. I went to the fertility clinic earlier in the year and they diagnosed me with pcos (I don't think I actually have it as I have only 1/2 symptoms). Anyway my doctor has put me on clomid, and I am now on my 2nd cycle. I got my day 21 progesterone results for last month, they said it was normal and the progesterone level was 57.4. What I would like to know is does this mean I ovulated last month?

Really hope someone is able to help

Thanks

Well I think so. The doctor told me to get my 21 day progesterone test done to see if I've released the egg this month

Were the units used to test pmol/L - most likely if you are in the UK. A result of 25+ pmol/L indicates ovulation has likely occured. I have PCOS but this wasn't diagnosed until an internal scan, however consistent with my Progesterone levels of 11 (worse) and 27 (best).

Hi

Yes, that is a good reading for Day 21 progesterone levels. I’ve always be taught that it should be more than 30 to be positive, but I won’t argue that one. As you say, it means that you have ovulated that month, and someone who does not present with any problems, should mean that they are ovulating regularly. It does seem that the Clomid you have been prescribed is doing its job. Also, you can have polycystic ovaries without having the “syndrome”, which is when a woman often suffers with weight problems, facial hair and spots. I do wish you well with your prescribed treatment and hope for a happy outcome. If you have a look at our website infertilitynetworkuk.com you will be able to find out more information and also how we can support you at this time.

Hi Claire,

Welcome to the forum. The ladies above have given you good information. I would just like to also add that your level of progesterone is fabulous, I would be over the moon with that, so well done you. When i had my tests done (about a yr ago now) the levels that were considered normal were as follows 11.0-81.0, the last time this reference to amounts changed was 19.04.2010 so i dont see it being any different now. So in answer to your question I would say yes you for sure did ovulate. I wish you lots of luck.
