BBT drop early pregnancy

hi ladiesI’m nearly 5 weeks pregnant and have been checking my bbt most mornings. It has normally been 36.7 but today I woke with strong AF pains and a bbt temp of 36.5c. Do you think I should be worried? I was aiming to get an early scan however no where is offering this currently and my scan at the clinic is not until 17th April. Has anyone had this happen to them? This is my 1st ivf cycle but I’ve had 3 natural early miscarriages previously so I’m so scared it will happen again.

A lot is happening in your body at the early stages so I don't know how reliable bbt is if you are having IVF e.g. could the progesterone affect you temp? Or at least affect your sleep which might have a knock on effeft? Logically it makes sense to me that it would ...but you know you body best. I woke with strong period pains for the first couple of weeks of pregnancy - it was so unnerving !! I feel you pain. Im sorry you have to wait so long for your scan. Maybe set yourself a date half way to then when you could do another pregnancy test to reassure yourself?

Good luck

Hi LauraJane, thank you for your reply. I have decided to step away from BBT as I just stress myself out. The cramps I had yesterday subsided and haven’t had any today so figure it’s just growing pains.

I am going to try and just wait till my 7 week scan and just focus on work and family until this time.

Good luck on your journey 😀

Hi love. My understanding of bbt is as a trend and you cannot glean much from just one small drop or one rise, for example, you'd need a sustained pattern. I think things like stress and illness can also have an impact, so it doesn't necessarily mean the worst. Sorry that you're having to go through this anxiety when your next scan or clinic visit is so far. Really hope everything turns out okay and you can feel more relaxed and secure (and happy) in your pregnancy soon. xxxxx

Hi ttcemmie

Many thanks for your response appreciate your comments and you are right that I can’t take one reading randomly and tell a story from this and hence I have decided to step away from charting. I did another test last night and all good and cramps stopped yesterday afternoon and not had any today so hopefully just those pesky growing pains!! 😀

Glad you're feeling a bit better about it today. It's impossible to tell what's going on in there, but don't want you to have to go through this worry. xxx
