Failed IVF round 2

Hi

2nd round of IVF with frozen egg from donor just found out today failed not pregnant from my blood tests šŸ˜© . 1st time worked but very early miscarriage.

Iā€™m 42 we had to go to egg donor as I donā€™t have any eggs which was heart breaking but I got my head round it now.

I donā€™t want to give up Iā€™m not born like that I never give up I never give in until Iā€™m done.....

I just feel lost though, no answers Iv asked for a call with our doctor in Spain where we went as I just feel shouldnā€™t we have more test, why did it go wrong, I got told the eggs have had over 500 genetic testing so should have no issues the success rate was so high this time round so why didnā€™t it work .

This time round I got told I had low progesterone levels so I had to as well as have the two pessaries a day, I had to inject as well progesterone and Iā€™m wondering could that be the reason why.

Itā€™s all the unknown If I got told to change something or do something different it would work then I would. A friend of mine said to me before she got told to take aspirin, I did toy with that and then my clinic said I shouldnā€™t so I didnā€™t šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø.

I am a rare blood type could that cause issues ?

I donā€™t know if anyoneā€™s been in the same situation and had any extra tests done or anything that helped work the next time round or advice.

Thanks x

Just wanted to say I'm sorry for your disappointing news! IVF is such a tough journey.

Hopefully they can figure out your progesterone levels for next time, if that was the issue. How is your lining? For me, they have me on estrogen tablets x3 times daily, progesterone injections and progesterone pessaries. My levels have been good on that and a nice thick lining. I also take a daily baby aspirin, but I have my own specific issues (PCOS etc). Think it can be very personal depending on your issues. I know some people do an endometrial biopsy, not sure what it's called, for implantation issues. But my doctor said 3 transfers before she is too worried. Is the genetic testing the same as they do in the UK? Might be worth checking it's the same quality testing. Wishing the best of luck to you xxxx

Hi thank you for your reply

I was on 4 tables of Estrogen then the same as u this time round my lining got to 7.5 ml a week before the transfer not as thick as my first round. They increased my meds the last week to thicken it more .

I do suffer with endometriosis not sure if that can change anything I had some cut away a year ago.

Hi Frogmore 12, I am sorry to hear this. I totally understand how you are feeling as I am the same age as you and had my first failed ivf using my own embryo though it was pg tested. Have you considered an ERA for your next cycle if your progesterone is a bit low? Some ladies here have also did NK cell testing and other tests. Maybe you could look into them as well. Hope you take time to heal and take care. X

Oh no so sorry to hear this. So hard when there is no reason why, Iā€™ve considered egg donation as in my head this was a way that whilst it wouldnā€™t be with my egg I could still be a mummy but when that can still fail šŸ˜” hopefully there are more eggs or embryos honey and you can try again I know they doesnā€™t help now but there is still hope and thatā€™s all we have xx

So sorry to hear your second round failed, and I totally understand how confusing and upsetting it is when another round has worked and you have managed to get pregnant and then suddenly you don't again

I know we always think there has to be a reason, but sometimes its just that it wasn't meant to be.. this is one of the hardest things about the whole TTC process. And it doesn't mean that your next one won't work. That probably doesn't help you. I just feel that we immediately want to do 100001 tests and find a reason and often there just isnt one its just bad luck.

I only take aspirin from a positive pregnancy test - not before - so not sure it would have helped in this round if thats any consolation.

I have been in a similar situation - I have had 4 rounds now and one of those has worked but ended in MMC- it was my second so it just doesnt make sense to me that my 3rd and 4th (and 1st) didnt - add to that I have managed to get pregnant twice naturally in the last 4 years but both MMC ... I really thought KEEPING a baby was my issue but yet for the last year of IVF its been getting pregnant that is my issue again. My head is scrambled.

My clinic just tell me to keep going and keep going - its like a hurdle race - and eventually if you do it enough times one will stick.

Sending you the hugest hug of commiseration - definitely be sad and grieve for what might have been but don't give up hope for next time xx
