Bleeding post embryo transfer... can't be good :-(

Hi everyone,

Well, I'm losing my positivity already!! Oh dear... Had my first fresh transfer (2 embryos, 4AA and 4CC) Monday lunchtime. Yesterday I had a little bit of light brown discharge (sorry all, TMI!) and this morning actual blood 😢. Not v much but more than just tiny spots. I'm hoping it doesn't get any heavier and turn into an actual period😭 (excuse my ignorance but I didn't even realise you could get your period till stopping the progesterone! Is it common for AF to show up before you even get to test day?)

Clinging to the hope it's just some blood from the procedure (doctor did say I had a small polyp, which I didn't know about) or -hope of hope- even implantation bleeding. SO many different views on when to expect the latter though: some sources say first few days is exactly when you should have it, others say a week after transfer or more?? I'm trying to stay positive (I told my clinic and they weren't worried at this point) but can anyone share similar stories (good or bad) xx

Sorry to hear about the bleeding. I've heard bleeding that's resulted in BFN and also BFP so it's important to keep taking the medication and test on OTD. Hope it's a BFP for you and there's no more bleeding.

Thank you so much runuphill. Yes, I'll definitely keep taking the pessaries and always intended to wait for my OTD (7th) in anycase, as I've got a big meeting Wed and Thur next week and I know getting a negative result confirmed before that would be hell. Much better idea to test on the Friday then if it's bad news I've got the weekend to have a little cry, rather than sobbing when giving a presentation! xx

I’ve seen other story’s like runuphill said both ways. If it’s only spotting try not to worry too much. I am also playing the waiting game and due to test on Friday 7th so I feel your pain!

Fingers crossed for both of us! X

Thank you very much Nic. Ah keeping everything crossed for your test day too! Are you going to wait or test earlier ? 😉 xx

Thank you! I am planning to wait until 7th Feb (my husband thinks we should wait) but patience isn’t my speciality!!!.... so we shall see! What about you? You planning to start testing early? X

Well I'll wait and see how things progress with this bleeding. Not very hopeful to be honest! But either way I'm going to wait till official day 🙂 Mainly because I think I'll cope better with bad news at the end of the week when I don't have to go into work and plaster on a smile 💔 xx

Hi AuroraXen. Always something to worry about! However, just a bit of bleeding could be just down to the procedures you have been through, plus your little polyp might have been "upset" and will settle back down. Pessaries can cause irritation, so just have a rest when you can, and hopefully all will be OK. Diane

Thank you for your kind message Diane. I'm afraid I can rule pessary irritation out as I've never used them rectally. But you're right of course, it could be a number of things. I know there's absolutely nothing I can do at this point, about any of it. So I'm trying to relax and be philosophical 😘xx

It could mean anything ... try not to worry. Rest as much as you can xxx

Thanks MrsH17 - I'll try xx

It may be the pessaries causing irritation if being administered in the front. Maybe ring your clinic they may advise to do rectally to eliminate this. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about xx
