Hysteroscopy - Heart shaped Uterus because of a septum... anyone else?

Hi everyone.

I've not been on here for a while. I had my first transfer in July and unfortunately miscarried in August. Since then my pain from my endo has prevented me from going for another transfer. So I am waiting for surgery for my endometriosis (17th March 2020).

I am under the care of a new endometriosis specialist who requested loads of tests before my surgery. So I have had an MRI recently and Hysteroscopy today. My MRI confirmed defused Adenomyosis and an Adenomyosis cyst (which isn't protruding into my womb), polycystic ovaries (which I already knew) and a heart shaped womb which the hysteroscopy also confirmed today.

My endometriosis specialist said he is certain the heart shaped womb is the reason for my miscarriage and that this can be rectified during my surgery. I am just so frustrated that I have had MRI scans Hysteroscopies and surgeries in the past and no one has ever mentioned this heart shaped womb / septum in my womb before.

I was wondering if anyone else has this and had it rectified and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, not sure if it helps but I did read a book about a lady who successfully went through IVF with the same challenge xx

Hi JadeH. So sorry to hear this, and yes, it's so annoying it wasn't detected before. However, it has now, and it can be corrected, so look forward to having it corrected and then on with your treatment again. Good luck! Diane

So sorry it’s been missed !no one has picked anything on my part either !I’ve not had an mri but ultrasound and I’ve been told Adenomyosis can cause a misscarrige !after having a misscarrige recently I’ve only just been told this by a specialist .aoparently Adenomyosis can cause implantation issues

Also the misscarrige makes endo worse didn’t know if you knew this so best to wait for surgery

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time Afrohair. My consultant told me Adneomyois should have an affect unless it is protruding into the lining of the womb. Have you asked where yours is? My consultant also said depending if it can cause an issue and it can be safely removed to help a pregnancy then that could be an option. Has this been discussed with you? It is frustrating isn't it!! I hope you start getting some answers/ relief soon! Take care xx

My consultant said it should be investigated as I have endometriosis but have had no investigation of Adenomyosis but they said I might have it since I had a misscarrige but that was with a private specialist. I’d probably have to pay for mri or wait for them to find out on a lap now !its so fustrating as they refused to give me an m.r.i due to costs and now I’m in same boat as you I don’t want to risk another misscarrige and I’ll have to wait for a lap for more answers

Hey, sorry to hear this, you are going through the mill

I had a septum and have had it 'resected' i.e. shaved off, was a simple procedure (even though it was quite big) and I didnt suffer any ill effects.

I don't have any good news story yet - hope to soon - but just wanted you to know its very simple and painless x

Hi Daisy, thank you I was worried that it would add to my recovery time but it is good to know that you didn't have any side effects. Wishing you lots of luck! Take care x
