Pesky Thyroid - 7+ months waiting

Hi IVF warriors šŸ‘‹šŸ’ŖšŸŒˆ

I hope youā€™re all okay and have had a good week.

I havenā€™t been on here in a while as been waiting patiently to start our next round treatment.

Last July we found out our first round of FET IVF hadnā€™t worked after two rounds of egg batching and no embies left to re-freeze.

I then found out my TSH had dive bombed to 0.02 in August so was taken off thyroxine. I was referred to an endocrinologist for monitoring.

Following lots of scans and tests the endocrinologist said he thought I had Thyroiditis as after my thyroid was over active it then came under active by November 2019 - my TSH was 23. My thyroid also looked like it had been inflamed in one of the scans. They did the thyroid antibodies test and this was negative.

I went back for my monitoring appointment yesterday and my TSH has now improved to 11 with my free T3 and T4 in the normal range. He recommended I wait for another two months as my body is trying to correct things.

I felt heart broken as I am desperate to start our next round of IVF treatment.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Iā€™m turn 37 later this year so donā€™t want to waste too much time waiting for Thyroid to stabilise. I feel a bit lost. xxx

Hi Kat. I know how you feel about the waiting, however thyroid disease is always risky with ivf and pregnancy so its really important its stable before you try.

I have thyroid antibodies (hashimotos) but all other levels within normal. Taking 25mcg. My consultant said TSH should be below 2.5 for fertility treatment. Mine was 2.72 a year ago, it's now 0.81 which he said was perfect.

I hope you get to the levels you need and have a positive outcome xx

Hi Hollie. Thanks so much for your message. So glad to hear your TSH levels have improved. How long did it take for them to stabilise? xx

Tsh has always been fine other than when I was pregnant in 2018 which ended in a MC., it shot up to 3.28. I have always taken 25mcg, then last year it was 2.72 but now down to 0.81 so not sure why it changed. I was worried I'd go hyperthyroid and that would cause problems but my consultant said it was great.

Has your dose been changed then? Did they not give you any idea of how long it would take to settle x
