First EC yday - 8 collected, 2 Fertilised by Day 1

Had my first ever EC yesterday age 40 (the procedure wasn’t as bad as suspected) we got 8 eggs, we had 7 counted at the last scan so I was happy with that. We had our first call from the embryologist today and we have 2 which fertilised. This is lower than anticipated. I’m still glad we have 2 and I know it only takes 1. Does anyone have any success stories which they can share?

A bit more info … Age 40, AMH was 11 when tested Sept 23 & AFH dropped from 21 in Aug 23 to 11 in July 24. Good news my partner had a 1% morphology which improved to 14% which great, we didn’t need ICSI.

Hey I’ve not got any success stories as we are just starting ICSI. My partner has low morphology was there anything particular your partner did to improve his by such a large amount? Good luck with your 2 eggs 🍀🍀

Thank you! 🤞🏼I think his original test he was under a lot of stress and hadnt produced a sample for some time. I believe being more regular helps clear out the dead heads lol, plus he changed he diet, Mediterranean lots of colour in his food, beetroot & fruit juices, stopped drinking & stopped the occasional cigarette, he moved to low patches. We read somewhere that cooked tomatoes & olive oil are good so he regularly ate toast with puree & olive oil, random bit he liked it. No idea what helped but it was a great improvement. The nurse did say morphology is subjective, if you have only had one test it might be worth getting another. Wishing you all the best Xxx

Dead heads 🤣 I will keep adding lots of veggies to our meals and I have been upping the protein. I didn’t realise they give the morphology percentage by eye, so I guess it can be so subjective. Hopefully when it comes to doing the deed around egg collection it may have improved 🤞🏼

we had icsi…24 follicles, 16 collected, 9 mature, 3 fertilised and made it do day 5. Chemical with the first and two boys from the second and third. All it takes is a little bit of luck xxx

Thanks HollyT7 congratulations! I didn’t get told how many were mature but just that 2 fertilised by day 1, did your 3 fertilise on day 1 and did they make it to day 5 or 3? Thanks for taking the time to reply it’s greatly appreciated x x x

They called on day one to say we had 9 mature, day 3 to say 3 had fertilised and a call on day five to say they’d made it to day 5 x

yep, I was also 40, only had 3 eggs collected, 1 fertilised which became my now 2.5 year old little boy. Does only take one 💖 good luck for the next stage 🙏🙏

14% is amazing. I would say, however, that if you have to do another egg collection I would recommend IMSI just in case. It’s better than icsi. You amh is good. I would say fsh is more indicative of success. 40 is still ok. Good luck

Thank you for the reply I will have a look into this, I hadn’t heard of IMSI. I have just been told to have a double 3 day transfer tomorrow. We have 50% fragmentation she didn’t give me a grade at this stage.
