Natural FET cycle straight after medicated - any successes switching regime

Hi again, Sorry for the number of posts this week - what a steep learning curve!

I've been offered to start my next FET as soon as I get my withdrawal bleed. I had some difficulty tolerating the oestrogen last cycle and by the time transfer day came, I didn't feel great. I'm also quite petite (4ft 10; 7st 4) so was worried the reason for my failed transfer might be because of the amount of hormones being pumped into my body.

Just found out today that my clinic is happy for me to try natural cycle or modified natural. Does anyone have experience of switching and any successes doing so?

I know logistically it can be pretty tricky. Instinctively natural feels right but I do often get a bit of spotting towards the end of my luteal phase so thinking some progesterone support will help.

Any advice much appreciated

It's such a minefield!

Thank you as always xx

Hi lovely, good to hear your clinic is happy to go ahead again straight away.I don't personally have a success story but the evidence shows they are equivalent in terms of success rates. With natural cycle, supplementing with progesterone +- using a trigger shot can increase success rates.

I have never done a medicated FET and would be loathe to try tbh as I hate taking all the extra hormones. medicated is really good for women who don't ovulate regularly but If you have regular cycles the evidence is that natural vs medicated are pretty similar, and I found them way nicer than my fresh transfer as much fewer medications and it worked with my natural cycle so I didn't have so many ups and downs and side effects.

Good luck with your next one whichever you choose xxx

Hi

I have done a natural fresh resulting in my daughter, then a few years later (recently) a converted natural (had to medicate half way through because of low progesterone), a modified natural and a just now a fully medicated (transfer today).

I would say I felt similar in all of them and yet the experiences were very different more because of other variables like support, things running smoothly at the clinic, being able to contact the nurses easily etc etc.

From what the head of my clinic said it doesn't matter about the switching. Each cycle is different and starts afresh.

What sorts of things did you experience with estrogen?

Weirdly I had different experiences each time with the different meds. 🤔

There are so many variables, it's so hard to know what is responsible for whatever you're experiencing.

Wishing you all the best! 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks for sharing and for your well wishes. The estrogen made me quite sick and I was struggling to do even basic tasks when the dose increased in the second week. I don't think I had any problems with the progesterone other than bad night sweats, but the estrogen (progynova) turned me into a monster. Wishing you lots of luck too xxx

I went straight into a FET on my withdrawal bleed after an early loss on a fresh transfer. I think it was called natural modified as it went of my natural period and although they put me on oestrogen I did not get on with it one bit - it made me really ill and I ended up pretty much off it within a week. So that just left progesterone support which I think was key for me (I've also always spotted before my periods). I have a LG from that x

Thank you. Yes, I think I'm going to try progesterone support for the same reasons (spotting) Really good to hear of your success - it makes such a difference keeping a bit of hope alive in these rough few days. Thank you xx

Hi lovely, that sounds really positive. I can’t give any advice as I think I’m just a couple of days behind you after my first failed FET, but also considering a natural cycle - I’m also petite and think the medicated cycle maybe was just too much. Anyway, wishing you the best of luck, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and following from a few days behind. X

Hi, Oh I am sorry you're going through this too. It sounds as though we are in quite a similar situation. My head is in a bit of a spin coping with the disappointment, sadness and all the different options I was never aware of for treatment next time. I hope you are recovering okay and are able to find a clear way to move forward that's right for you. Take care and keep in touch if you feel like it xx

hey lovely, I totally understand how you’re feeling, it’s a total whirlwind. I always thought I was pretty good at keeping calm and rational but this has just thrown that all out the window, the disappointment after the positive tests was just another huge blow I foooishky wasn’t prepared for. The more I think on it the more I think a natural or slightly modified cycle is probably best, but I know from reading on here that we are all so different! I’m sending so much love to you, and comfort in a time that feels so impossible. Do stay in touch, and share whenever you feel ❤️

Thank you, I think I've learnt not to throw everything at it and try and accept there is very little I can control. I have decided to try the natural protocol this time with some additional blood monitoring ( if they'll let me) just because I feel it's right for me. You're spot on, everyone is so different and we can only but try. Xxx
