AMH results from Home Test (baffled!!!!)

--- EDIT (See bottom of post for response from company)---

So as some of you have followed my posts, I bought an AMH home test via Fertility Connected. I know another lady on here questioned the reliability but I have to say my results have to be 100% INCORRECT. I thought my last AMH check was 18months ago but I have just gone through my paperwork and it was actually done in Nov 2017(!!!) and was 7.6pmol/L. However the home test results show that it is now 43.4pmol/L 🤨 There is absolutely NO WAY it has increased at that rate. And I'm quite annoyed as I expected a small fluctuation but this is ridiculous and so now will have to pay again with a different company 🤦🏾‍♀ Not so much a question - just having a vent!

------

Email back from company:

'We appreciate your concern about variation in results.

Different Labs measure AMH using different tests. Each test method has its reference ranges and results should not be compared directly to the results of other tests.

In the UK, labs use 4 different AMH Tests and when results compared, a special multiplier formula is used. This is called the Conversion Formula.

The test our partner Lab (London Medical Laboratory) uses is called Dry Blood Spot AMH, Ansh Labs. This test provides a higher result than other test methods. This may be due to higher sensitivity and/or difference in calibration.

Please see attached research studies which show that Ansh Labs results are higher than other commonly used test methods.

As we have explained in our FAQ and Blogs, it is important not to directly compare AMH results performed in different Labs.

When monitoring AMH levels over time, it is important to repeat AMH with the same Test Method.

We can reassure you, the results provided by our Partner Lab is reliable as:

1) The test we use is recognized as a highly sensitive and accurate, which has been validated by regulatory bodies and research studies.

2) All our tests are distributed and analyzed by an established clinical laboratory based in the UK.

Good grief! No that doesnt sound quite right, flipping annoying that these companies advertise tests without any reliability.xx

It's so frustrating. I wonder how they explain themselves when they reply back to my email. I have booked via Nuffield instead now and I will have to go to the actual clinic to get a proper blood test. Hopefully this will be more accurate. xx

Would be interesting to hear how it goes. Incidentally did you and Jessy use the same company?xx

Yes we did! She referred to them as Connected tho - but I am 99.9% sure it is Fertility Connected (as I couldn't find a company called just 'Connected'). x

I’m so glad both you and the other lady, Jessy I think, posted about these being wrong because I was considering it and now I will definitely just pay for one through my clinic I think. Last thing we all need it to be getting the wrong information! X

Yes, it was Jessy! I would definitely not recommend Fertility Connected. And I am so gutted as I was trying to save £££ by going through them but instead, I'll end up spending more money! At least going through a reputable clinic will mean the results should be more accurate! I've made a complaint/queried with the Fertility Connected - so I will keep everyone posted with how they explain the jump! I flipping wish it increased that much, lol, but realistically that is just impossible, lol. xx

That’s ridiculous! How do they get away with it! 😡

Not sure if this helps but I was looking for AMH test prices for a friend recently and I saw Nuffield do them for a lower price than my clinic. It’s listed under the fertility section when you scroll down: nuffieldhealth.com/patholog...

I have literally just booked this via the Guildford Nuffield! :) I wonder whether my results have got mixed up with someone elses or whether I didn't provide enough blood as its only pinprick?! 🤷🏾‍♀️ Who knows. But I think perhaps having an actual blood test will yeild more accurate results. Thank you! (ps. I have made a complaint to Fertility Connected. Will keep you all posted!) xx

Awesome! Good luck 🤞🏻

Honestly just sounds like they make the numbers up as you and Jessy both had insanely high and incorrect results. So bad!x

This is really useful, thanks! Cheaper than through my clinic

Arghhh! 😠 I also saw Jessy’s post about this, I was mad then and even more mad now it’s happened to someone else.

Not only are they exploiting women who are willing to pay through the nose for answers when it comes to fertility (I consider myself one!), but they’re potentially causing serious harm. Imagine if you were getting older and buy one to check if you’ve got time or should be cracking on, and you get a false high reading like that. It could reassure people that they have ages when they haven’t. Sorry for the rant and I hope you get your money back even though the company response doesn’t suggest you will xx

So, basically, it is absolutely pointless getting one of these at-home test?! Very annoying!
