Day 7 follicle Scan

Morning Ladies,

I've just come from my 7 day scan after starting Gonal F last week and have left feeling really disappointed..

I'm 32 and on checking my ovaries the technician said my left had 9 follicles and my right had 3 (although I noticed on the form she wrote small next to these too) and she kept saying to me that it just takes one lucky one and it was a bit behind what they'd expect to see - which has made me think that it's not going well??

When I went to have my bloods taken that nurse kind of said the same thing and that it was to check that my high dose of Gonal F (I didn't realise I was on a high dose..) was right for me which it is.

I have another scan on Friday but I just feel a little lost and confused about if I'm 'normal' or not?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) xx

Hi Laura. Oh bless you, I can understand how anxious you feel, but another couple of days may just do the trick. Keeping everything crossed for Friday's scan. Diane

Please don’t panic, a lot can happen in a few days, at my last scan before collection they counted 10 follicles, some small and at egg collection got 12 mature eggs. Xxx try to relax and trust in your body xxx

Please dont worry, that sounds like a good number. I'm sure I only had 7 follicles at day 7 then my next one showed 12, good luck for your next one xx

Thank you all, I think it was more their reaction that caught me out at the time and I didn't know what to do next! Its so hard trying to talk with people who haven't been through it all.

Trying to see it as a positive and not stress myself out too much. Bit of me time this evening I think - curl up with a book and forget about it all for a few hours!

Thank you for re-assuring me, its really helped :) xx

Yeah, it’s true - it’s a bit early to make any assumptions. The same happened on my 3rd scan where the nurse said it was unlikely anymore would grow but I had a further 6 follicles grow big enough by egg collection - I was so apprehensive after that scan, but so elated at the next one. The rollercoaster is real.

What is your gonal dose? I started on 115 and ended on 300.

Wishing you all the luck x

A consultant told me I would end up with 8 eggs and got 25!! It is way to early for them to be pronouncing how this cycle will go for you. They can’t tell much at that stage at all.

Thank you ladies, going to take what they've said with a pinch of salt and look to the next two scans and see what happens there :)

I'm on 375IU and have been since the beginning, they've told me to continue with the same dosage, and I've worked out I have 5 days worth left in my fridge (after completing my 6th injection last night) so over half way there! xx
