Day 9 Scan and Follicles still not ready

Hi all,

I had my second scan today and my follicles are still not the size they should be I think they counted 6 large ones on my left and 3 on my right, but they are all between 12-14 when they need to be 18-20. I then have a number of small ones.

So now I have to keep injecting Gonal F (I'm already on a dose of 375IU from the beginning) and have another scan on Monday and they said possibly Wednesday too. I'm feeling quite deflated and not looking forward to going back (the scans are fine... they struggle to take blood from me and it's been an ordeal!) also feeling frustrated with my body.

I just wondered if anyone else had been in the same position?

It's so tricky but hang in there. Have you tried drinking loads of water before blood tests? Also I'm surprised they're making you wait till Monday for your next scan. The follicles can grow really quickly towards the end...either way in sure they know what they're doing. You'll get there xx

Thank you. No I haven’t, they’re always first thing but I’ll try drinking loads of water on Monday - I’ll give anything a go!! I’m kind of not holding out much hope for Monday so I’m not disappointed, I’m hoping by Wednesday they’ll have some that they can take xx

I would definitely second that! I've always had trouble having my bloods being taken, and one time the lady said have you drunk much this morning? And I hadnt, so now I drink lots and have had no problems! Only problem I had was at egg collection because you cant eat or drink before they couldn't get the cannula in anywhere 🙈

Don’t worry, mine took a few days longer to mature, I had extra time added also. I only had 3 measuring 14/15 so they left it another few days and I ended up with 8 matured and collected. Of which 4 got to 5 day blastocyst. It’s quality not quantity. Good look for Monday x

Thank you! I’ve kind of resigned myself that Monday they’ll give me more Gonal F to take until Wednesday, so keeping things crossed that by Wednesday I have follicles they can take. Keep trying to remind myself that it just takes one!
