I have just started my first ivf cycle, started taking norethisterone tablets on Sunday and have to take them until this sunday coming. I have had one child naturally and then unfortunately had two ectopic pregnancies within a year of each other resulting in losing both my tubes. Just wanted to introduce myself and get as much advice as possible as I'm so nervous about this whole process.

Hi Chloe, fingers crossed for u, hope it goes well for u x I got my AMH bloods taken 3 weeks ago (everything good) if u dong mind me asking, how long after ur blood tests did ur treatment start and what is ur treatment? Thanks, x
Thank you, so I started the whole process in April of this year had my consultations and all test done. Then had abit of a wobble didnt know if I wanted to go through with it all as it's so daunting, but got back in contact with my clinic October and I've just started the process so it moves pretty quickly. I dont feel like I've had much help/info from my clinic so sort of just going with what they are saying at the moment. I started my norethisterone on sunday I will take them until this Sunday coming and then scan on the monday, soon as my bleed starts I commence with the injections (gonal f, cetrocide) think the whole process will last a few weeks then egg collection. So fingers crossed. Hope everything goes well for you, it's nice to talk to others going through the same thing as I feel everyone is at a loss x
Hi Chloe, thank you for all the info, that's a great help. Can I ask you one last question, the norethisterone seems to be what everyone gets first, do u have to start this on a specific date in your cycle? My concern is that I am still waiting on what meds I have to take and I think I am going to end up running in to Christmas so can see it being next year for my treatment, it's just a waiting game x
Hey cheeky, I started northisterone on day 16 as I have a typical 28day cycle. I think there is some wiggle room on the exact day but it will be a few days after ovulation. I think...I don’t know for sure but I think northisterone is used for short protocols. Do you know what protocol you will be on? xxx
So I started it on the 19th day of my cycle I'm guessing I am on the short protocol but I dont really know havent been told. I've read quite a few post that say they started it on the 16th day of their cycle so not to sure x
Good luck with your cycle Chloe. My advice would be just take each day as it comes and try and do things to help you relax. It’s definitely a time to look after yourself and do things for you! Let us know how it goes. Xx
Thank you Suzy, i will definatly take your advice. Not sure how easy the relaxing part will be as I already have a 3 year old and its the run up to christmas😴 hopefully everything works out and I will keep you updated x
Hey Chloe I'm in the same boat had a natural birth then 10 years later I got cysts on my tubes and ovaries and scar tissue has block them I go for my bloods Saturday and then consultant on Thursday but I'm egg sharing so will be few extra appointments but got told yesterday it's 6-8 from start to end I'm sooo excited but scared too, I hope yours goes to plan and keep us updated xx
It is really exciting but scary I've had so many wobbles. I know I really want another baby but it just doesn't seem fair the cards we have been dealt . I hope everything goes well and keep me updated, any questions or anytime you need to talk let me know x
Thank you I know it's rubbish ive been putting it off not sure why as wanted to do it for 2 years but I was over weight and now slimmer and in a better place I thought ild go for it in the new year then thought why am I hold in off so made the call Friday just gone lol I have had operations in last 4 years and tried to conceive naturally but no luck and every time I came on my period was devastating , I want to put 2 back in so got higher chance but we will have to wait and see fingers and toes crossed for us both xx
It's such a daunting process and the thought of it failing after spending all that money.. well it's just not worth thinking about. I think this will probably be our only try as it's just ridiculously expensive so I feel so much pressure and stress. I really hope it works out for both of us x
Yeh I know the money is a big thing that's why I'm egg sharing always wanted to do it as I have friends that don't make eggs so I know what it's like for them and because u share u get money off mine only £800 to £2000 depending on what medications I need xx
It is such a lovely thing to do, I wanted to egg share but the fact my grandad had a heart attack they wouldnt accept me, I couldnt believe it when they turned me down for something so little when there are women out there that desperately need eggs. I have just paid £1,075 for meds and next payment is going to over £5,000 x
Wow that's crazy money hope I can be one I did apply to a different clinic last year and I thought I wouldn't be able to ad my mum had spina bifida but they said it was fine so hopefully this clinic should be the same x
Good luck with your IVF cycle 🤞I took norethisterone from cycle day 21 for 7 days (last one was Saturday). I’m also on buserelin injections and start menopur this Saturday hopefully. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, but just remember you are stronger than you realise xxx
Hi glad to know people have started taking it on different days I was starting to worry that it wasnt right, buserelin has been giving to me as a trigger shot. Fingers crossed for your cycle let me know how it goes xx
Just a little update I'm starting my gonal f injections tomorrow evening, had a scan on Monday and was told I'm at a high risk of getting OHSS so may have to do a freeze all cycle. Pretty disappointed as i just wanted to get it over with, I'm going for another 2 scan's next week earlier than normal so that they can monitor me more closely. Fingers crossed everything will be ok xx
