I started this thread because I am 44 and TTC with IVF for the first time. DH and I have suffered 5 miscarriages in 5 years. Now hopeful with IVF. Had 3 follicles seen in ultrasound today. Starting Gonal F injections today. Anyone else going through this?

Hey there! Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm sorry that you had to face so many losses in your life. 5 MCs are a lot... You must be devastated 😞

Anyway it's good to see that you didn't give up. I like your spirit 😘

You've taken the right decision going for IVF. I hope you have a great treatment and you conceive very soon. 🙏

IVF didn't work for me. Maybe because I had 3 miscarriages and my body had turned barren. I went for surrogacy then. Well, I wish IVF works for you! Good Luck! Sending baby dust your way. xx

Thank you for your support xx

How was your surrogacy route? Did you succeed in it? x

Masses of luck! I am 43 and am in my 3rd year of IVF. Ive had 4 MCs (3 natural and 1IVF) and 3 failed IVF rounds so far but I really believe it gives me a much better chance of conceiving than trying naturally - at least the egg (hopefully) gets fertilised! I am due to start my stims for my 5th round hopefully any day now... happy for you to message me any questions etc as I am a bit of a pro at this now :) x

I do hope it will work out for you 💗

I understand how it hurts emotionally, but could you please share with me a physical part of IVF treatment? Have you had any allergic reactions? How do you manage to get over all these painful injections again and again? I am so scared of injections and pills and their impact on my health 😞

I haven't found the injections too bad, they sting a bit but thats soon forgotten. I am on blood thinners too due to repeat MC and I think they are worse than IVF drugs (stinging wise).

I haven't had any ill health. I am on my 5th egg collection so my ovaries/uterus are pretty scarred and I do have quite bad pain after EC, but honestly when you are doing this to get your family you would literally do anything and any pain is soon forgotten.

Ive put on a few pounds each round, I think the hormones make you do that, but again if it gets me the family I want so be it.

I have found the mental stress to be most difficult, mainly because we didnt really tell anyone and my work don't know - so when I have been going through it, or when I have had my MCs and MC surgeries I have just wanted to scream at people 'you have no idea what I am going through' but of course I didnt.

I actually think until you experience IVF you don't really understand it but I think the mental ups and downs and primarily the lack of control, anger at your OH etc is much worse than any of the physical stuff! you will be grand xx

Hi! I'm also 44 (going on 45) and TTC w IVF. This is my 3rd round of IVF. No luck w round 1 (2017); MC at 8weeks round 2 (March 2018); transferred two 5-day Blastocytes last Wednesday...and now playing the waiting game. I agree - the most important thing to do is to NOT STRESS! Eat healthfully, get plenty of rest, drink water...and then some more! (ie. stay hydrated!), and try to take your head out of the situation.

You will get used to the injections...and all the other drugs. Try to take walks when you can to clear your head and get some (gentle) exercise. 3 Follicles is great! And with the Gonal F, you're likely to have a few more come to maturity. All you need is ONE good one, so you are in a great place right now!

Hey, so sorry to hear about your miscarriages - so so tough.

I'm 43 and I've been doing IVF for almost 2 years. 1st round failed, 2nd round was a BFP but sadly had a MMC and then the 3rd transfer failed recently so I'm getting ready for my next transfer. Always happy to help and answer any questions you have - there's a great community on here with lots of us who understand what you're going through and are happy to support. Wishing you lots of luck! xx

Hi, used to be in your shoes once. We had 4 cycles of ivf! Unless finally conceived our LO. What's good on the whole situation is that we signed up for a guaranteed package with BTC. Meaning we get unlimited number of attempts. If we fail to get prego after 5 shots in a row - they will refund us the money paid. We failed 3 rounds but I wanted to try one more time. Dr told me she had nothing against - my body could do it once more. Now I am 10 weeks pregnant, I am so nervous and excited at the same time!

I read once ''Hope for better, expect the worse''. I'm just trying to say that living inbetween will keep you sane when going through this roller coaster.

Anyway, I wish you good luck and pray for a positive outcome xx
