We have just been referred for IVF after two unsuccessful years of trying for number one. My husband is 30 and I am 33, we are both in great health and everything is as it should be. In some ways I think it would be easier if there was a big flashing sign to say why we couldn’t get pregnant, because unexplained just makes me so angry. But, I am so happy that we have the opportunity of IVF and as difficult a process it will be, we’re so looking forward to treatment beginning in Spring.
Has anyone been in a similar position? I’d really appreciate some advice. Thank you 😘

Hey hun, I was in your position not that long ago and now I am almost 30 weeks pregnant from the first cycle. We were also unexplained although through this journey I have found out I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
Hi, thank you for responding, I’m so pleased to hear it worked for you first time, congratulations 😌 how was the experience of IVF treatment? I’m quite nervous. I think my thyroid levels came back as normal during the numerous tests I had, how did you find out about Hashimoto’s? X
Thank you, my thyroid levels were also considered 'normal' at TSH 4.6 which is shocking really because the levels should be no more than 2.5. I was so fed up with my clinic saying it was normal I insisted on additional tests and in the end when I was visiting my family in Poland I went to a private lab and had the full thyroid panel tested including antibodies and that's how I discovered I have Hashimoto's. Straight away I was out on Levothyroxine. Don't let anyone tell you TSH above 2.5 is normal at pre-conception stage. This is extremely important for IVF.
The whole thing is so awful and difficult and amazing and the same time. You just need to accept you will not feel yourself for a while. The good news is that the whole process is pretty quick and with lots of tests the time really flies. Egg collection and transfer is not too bad really.
I totally recommend Mindful IVF app, lots of girls on here use it. Always here for you if you have any questions or want to chat xx
Hiya, we are in a similar position... I am 29 and my fiancé is 32, been trying for 2.5 years for baby no1, diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We have just started our first round of IVF. I am sat on the fence with how I feel about unexplained infertility, one part of me says, great nothing wrong, the other part of me wants to scream in frustration! When I’m in a positive frame of mind I just hope that unexplained is a good thing for IVF - but it’s all one big rollercoaster! Wishing you lots of luck for your ivf cycle in spring xxx
Thank you, I hope this first round works for you 🤞🏼 I’ll be following for support. I know what you mean, at least if there was something that says ‘this is why it’s not happening’, you could deal and make peace with it! X
