Help! I am trying to make the decision whether or not to take this drug. I was overstimulated and they collected 25 follicles so they want me to to go on Cabergoline but I read the insert and this drug is crazy....so my question is did anyone collect this many eggs and escape OHSS and has anyone else taken this drug? Thanks ladies cxxx

I had a similar number of follicles last time and I had moderate OHSS, although I was showing a lot of the signs it was going to happen before egg collection. I had kissing ovaries and was in a fair bit of pain already. I wasn’t offered anything but I wish I had been. I don’t know anything about the drug they are offering you but OHSS is no walk in the park! I don’t think I’ve ever been in so much pain and I feel like I have a relatively high pain threshold. What is it about the drug that makes it crazy? How long would you have to take it for?

The possible side effects! Anyway, I have decided to take it and just focus on getting to transfer. Supposed to take it for eight days but other clinics just prescribe it up to transfer so think I will go with that! xxx

I think that’s a good plan. I would take it if I was offered it this time! Good luck with everything xxx

I took it and it was fine for me, didn't notice any effects from it- I got 27 eggs and oestrogen levels were really high and I only have mild OHSS symptoms xxxx

Hey... thanks for your input. I have decided to take it. I have suffered from depression in the past so was worried about the mad mad list of side effects but I am just going to go with it and focus on the good stuff: 11 fertilised eggs. How did things turn out for you? xx

Ohhh I didn't even realise the side effects, just took it on doctor's orders lol. I egg shared so gave away 13 of the eggs to a recipient and out of my 14, 9 fertilised, 9 got to day 3, and we ended up with 4 good quality blastocysts we froze. I had a FET 2 months after and had a son in May of this year 😁. 11 is a good number you'll end up with a few blastocysts for sure!!! Xxxxxx

Hi Recidwen, during my egg collection I had 35 collected and ended up with OHSS. I was on Cabergoline and Tinzaparin following this and had to put off my transfer until it settled. I didn't have any side effects from the Cabergoline however, the pain from the OHSS was horrific. I also had kissing ovaries. Just make sure you drink loads of water and monitor your urine output. I hope things settle down and you can go ahead with your transfer and you don't have any side effects to the medication. Take care x
