For ladies at risk of OHSS...

Hi all,

I'm due to start my first IVF cycle next week as soon as AF arrives. I've been told that I'm at a relatively high risk of getting OHSS so I'm mentally preparing myself for a freeze all cycle.

I've been put on the short protocol with a Gonal f dosage of 150.

My question: for those of you who have a high risk of OHSS, what doses were you on and did they work for you? Any fresh transfers or mostly FETs?

Thanks for your help!

Renee x

Hi Renee,

I was a high risk too and had a very similar protocol. I ended up managing to do a fresh transfer and ended up with OHSS after getting a bfp. Of course I was happy in the end though and the OHSS was uncomfortable but mild.

Good luck! Xxx

Hi there, thanks for your reply. It's reassuring to know that you were on a similar dose and got a bfp! How long did your symptoms last and did it affect your pregnancy if you don't mind me asking?

Thankx! x

I think by 6 weeks I was in the all clear. The ohss didn’t impact my pregnancy it just meant I looked 5 months pregnant at 5 weeks! It was uncomfortable but never got so bad that I needed hospital treatment. In the back of my mind I was just so happy to be pregnant that the unpleasant symptoms were manageable. I know I was lucky though as it could have been worse. Good luck for your cycle! :)

I can imagine that getting a bfp out of it would lessen the blow somewhat! Thanks a lot for all this info, you've given me a little more hope of being able to have a fresh cycle :) xx
