Pain with Gonal F injection

Hi all,

We have just done 3rd gonal f injection and so far every one has been excruciating. We’ve already had a month of buserelin every morning and while they aren’t pleasant, there’s been nothing more than discomfort, whereas these are hurting so much I actually have tears in my eyes.

I barely feel the needle going in (husband is injecting me), and it’s fine for a few seconds, but then in the ‘hold it in and count to 10’ it’s unbearable.

Is this the same for everyone? Any tips on how to deal with it?

I was never told to hold it in and count to 10. I just injected and pulled it out. I think the holding it in might be unnecessary.

I agree, I don’t think you need to hold it in at the end, maybe a 1 second pause after you have pressed all the liquid in.

You could also try doing it yourself so you have more control. I did all of mine myself over 6 rounds, but I let my husband do a couple and they always hurt the most when he did it x

agree with the others. I think I held for 3-5secs just in case but no more then that x

Which part is hurting, when the medication is being injected? Or the last part when youre waiting? X

Interesting, thanks all. Maybe we will try reducing the time it’s held in, I’m not sure why we are doing that anyway to be honest.

I just read this morning on the directions, it said to hold for 5. I do think they are less painful when I give them myself.
