First injection done! Question about Gonal F

So after my scan this morning I was given the go ahead to start my injections! I have just given myself my first Gonal f shot.

Sunday I continue with Gonal f and also start centride.

With the Gonal, I have 4 boxes. 2 boxes are 900IU/1.5ml and the other 2 are 300IU/0.5ml. Does anybody know why??

I have been told that one pen is 4 injections so today I opened the 900IU box as I have to do a dose of 200 each time (so I am assuming the odd 100 is for air bubbles etc.

Does this sound like I’ve done the right thing? X

Hey hun, no that's not right you should exact amount in each pen for what you are going to use. Example...i was taking 225 daily I had one pen of 450 and another pen of 900. I would ring your clinic and just double check your dosage you may have misheard or got it wrong of they mucked up your pens. Xx

So the pens don’t contain spare liquid then? On the tutorial video it says if there is an air bubble then the pen would need to be set to 25 to get rid of this. This would explain the leftover 100..

I have been told my dose is 200. And I get 4 injections out of one pen.

Surely if my dose is 200 then using a pen of 300 wouldn’t make sense because I would only get one injection out of it?

So panicking now x

The air bubble is nothing don't take note of it. As far as I'm aware the pen should be full of exactly how many doses you need and that's it. Like I said I was on 225 daily I had 1 pen of 450 which was 2 days dosage and one pen with 900 which was 4 days dosage.

I would check with your clinic first, sorry if I've just stressed you more! Xx

Hi, I was told you might gave some left in the pens which will mean you will have to inject from 2 pens some days. For example after injecting 200 from your 300 pen, you will have 100 left. You will also have 100 left in your 900 pen after you give yourself 4 injections. The 2 x 100s you have will make up another dose but on that day you will need to inject from both pens. I don't think it matters what pen you use first. I am on 375 a day so set my pen to 375 , if there has not been enough in the pen to give me the whole injection it tells me on the reader, I then set the new pen to that value to give myself the rest of the injection.

Thanks. You should be pleased with yourself! I have found the Gonal F injections absolutely fine and the first week of the Luveris ones painful. Don't like them!! Hope the rest of your treatment goes well!!

Thank you. I start cetrotide on Sunday too which I’m abit more nervous about because I have to mix the injection first. How far into your treatment are you? X

I am on day 9/10 day of injections. Have scan tom to decide when egg collection will be. Nervous now!!

Oh exciting! Is it your first cycle of ivf? I have a scan again on Tuesday. At the moment my EC is due to be on 13th but I know how easily that could change. Let me know how it goes tomorrow x

Hi how are things going? I have just taken trigger shot tonight and booked in for egg collection on Thursday. Dreading it! Also worried as from reading on here I don't seem to have many follicles, not that anyone at the hospital has said that. Feel so ignorant and not clued up about all of the steps. Hope you are getting on well.

Hi I’m on day 8 and due for a scan this morning. I’m definitely going to ask more questions today because wasn’t really told much yesterday and I want to know if I have a good number etc 🤞 Oh exciting but scary for you. I guess the hospital wouldn’t book you in if they didn’t think you were ready. Good luck!! Do you have much time off work after to recover? Xx
