Hi all. I’m so sore down there from the vaginal capsules - utrogestan.

I have had a positive test 🎉 on our first round of IVF

but am worried about using these capsules until week 8 due to soreness.

Anyone able to recommend anything?

Congratulations!!

Do let your clinic know about the soreness. The advise I was given was to let them know if I had difficulties with the pessaries and they might give me injections instead. Apparently Thrush is common with pessaries too, in that case you can you certain creams (according to my clinic).

Hey, I hear you! You can use canestan cream or if you want to go more natural then natural yoghurt may help or I find a little vaseline helps create a barrier against my skin. You could always check with your clinic if they'll allow you to use them rectally for a few days to let things settle down. I know it doesnt sound the best but it's easier than you think.xx

The cyclogest pessaries can be used either vaginally or rectally, so I alternated between the two options to cut down on irritation in either location (TMI sorry). Maybe you could ask about whether the pessaries are an alternative option. I’ve heard the capsules can cause more soreness than the pessaries anyway.
