Endometriosis pain increased following first FET which ended in miscarriage.

Hi everyone.

So I had my first FET in July following OHSS after my egg collection in Jan. Before I could go ahead with first transfer I had difficulty with my lining (it was too thick) and I had to start and stop on Progynova; I also ended up on Microgynon and Norethisterone to help shed the lining. I had the transfer which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. I have been waiting to go for round two and at the beginning of October I started Microgynon so I can go ahead during my next period.

However, the pain I have been in for the last 2 weeks has been horrendous. That much so I am still needing to take my zapain; which I know I will HAVE to stop before the transfer. I know that it says on Progynova you shouldn't take if you have endometriosis but there is no other option. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and any advice?

I’m so sorry for your loss.

And I’ve been in a similar situation.

I had a chemical pregnancy after my first lap which endo was diagnosed & treated ( left a spot on the rectum but cleared the rest on pouch of Douglas)

Like you all my endo symptoms returned with a vengeance. It was nigh on impossible to convince medics my endo had regrown so quickly fortunately my fertility doctor listened to my worries & organised various referrals first was an scan which showed uneven uterus lining then referred to a general gynaecologist who performed a lap & hysteroscopy which proved my endo had in fact regrown & was worse this time on uteroscaral ligaments & all over my rectum as general gynaecologist couldn’t treat all the endo my fertility doctor referred me to an endo surgeon who did my third lap July & I then fell 2 months after my surgery & had my daughter June this year.

I was so lucky to have such a good fertility doctor without his assistance I wouldn’t have my daughter.

I know this isn’t what you want to hear but could you perhaps consider another lap to see if it’s regrown as you won’t know without a lap it’s rubbish there is no other way to check other than surgery. My endo is particularly aggressive & can grow back rapidly I think it fed on the hormonal changes with pregnancy & miscarriage the fact a bit was left didn’t help either.

If you are concerned it is back then trust your judgment you know your body better than any dr.

Thank you for replying. So pleased to hear about your positive story. Yeah it's not ideal I have had several laps over the years and didnt really want any more but at present I dont the right answer because I feel I cannot carry on like this.

Hi JadeH. So sorry to hear that you ar suffering so much. Obviously you cant' keep suffering like this, and hopefully it will start to settle down. However, I would check now if there is any other pan killer you can try before carrying on to transfer. Do be careful about constipation too, so keep up with the veggies etc if you do change medication. Good luck, and I really hope that the transfer goes ahead on schedule. Diane

Thank you for relying Diane. Yes I have Lactulose for constipation also and I am aware but paracetamol just isn't good enough. I am struggling with if it is the right idea to go ahead with the transfer. Just wish someone had the right answers. Thanks again x

I don't have experience with endometriosis but with regards to Progynova I didn't take it with my FET as I did a natural FET for my most recent cycle so no drugs involved other than progesterone support post ovulation. Perhaps this might be a better option for you? xx

Hi MissL, see I didn't even know this was possible. What is the criteria for being able to have a natural FET... do you have to have natural periods because, because of my PCOS I have to take medication to induce a bleed.

Usually you just have to ovulate on your own. However I was so messed up after all the drugs from my previous cycles so what I actually ended up doing was a cycle with very low dose stims (Gonal F) just enough to get one or two follicles growing, once they were big enough a trigger shot (so very similar to a fresh cycle) and then put on progesterone support. So it was kind of like a mini fresh cycle but with no egg collection. It worked well for me, I didn’t feel too bad because the drug doses were so low and I just don’t get on with Progynova and it was successful I’m now 8 weeks. A full natural cycle is just like having a normal menstrual cycle they just monitor it closely to check for when you ovulate and then use that to time your transfer so no drugs at all xx
