I had surgery last October to try to open my tubes in order to conceive naturally, sadly the scar tissue from the surgery closed my tubes up again and now I'm waiting for more surgery to remove my tubes, this took a lot to get my head around and obviously devastating, I have got my head around it now but while I wait for surgery I'm in a lot of pain, and over the last week with the pain I have also been bleeding, currently I have not been able to get in touch with my surgeon and the Drs won't deal with me, I guess I'm looking to find out how normal this is and if I should be worried?
I have emailed and phoned fertility network UK last week and I have not had a reply yet, really needing some advice.

Hi Lovely. I can't advise on the pain and bleeding I'm afraid, it definitely sounds like you need to see someone though if it's not normal for you - did you see your GP and they wouldn't help? If so and if you're worried I'd consider going to A&E because it could be that you have an infection. Regarding tubal surgery I'm glad you've got your head round it. It is awful to come to terms with initially. I had both tubes removed in July last year. The surgery was OK, fairly sore for a few days afterwards but not a bad recovery and we started IVF in January. Fresh transfer didn't take but we were lucky to have one embryo to freeze which we had transferred in April and I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow, so it all worked for us. All the best and I hope you get sorted soon xx
Thank you for your reply, I haven't been to the drs this time but I had similar pain with no bleeding back in January and went to the drs and they said as I'm seeing the specialist in a few weeks to wait until I see them, so I'm reluctant to go back, even though this time I've been bleeding, it's really not a lot, but blood is blood and shouldn't be there but I feel like I'm being too dramatic to go to A&E, the last two days the pain has subsided, I'm more annoyed that there is no answer with the secretary to the surgeon and I have left countless messages, I feel like they give you no support, I'm unable yo have the surgery until at least November as I'm going on a long haul flight in three weeks for my honeymoon and have to be six weeks clear of that, I hope I don't keep having this pain for all that time, congratulations to you, I bet it feels like a little miracle, the ivf clinic said to me I can start ivf about two months after surgery and I should have about 16 eggs but we shall see, it all just seems like such a long weight, I've been going through this journey for the last three years, I just want the surgery now, I hope you have a great pregnancy, take care x
Hi Bernie,
Having pain and bleeding is definitely not normal. You really need to see a doctor.
I had 2 ectopic pregnancies from natural conception. First one (right tube) they treated with methotrexate and second one (left tube) I had surgery but it was not necessary to remove the tube.
After that I TTC again but it became impossible. So we went to IVF.
Fresh cycle I got a BFP but it was another ectopic on the right tube. I had another surgery and they removed both tubes. We learnt that the scar tissue from the previous surgery had closed my left tube. The surgery was OK, fairly sore for a few days afterwards but nothing out of the ordinary.
We were lucky to have some embryos to freeze. I had FET#1 but it ended up in a miscarriage. Currently I'm 15 weeks pregnant after FET#2. So for me it was a good thing having both my tubes removed.
Thank you for the reply, I'm definitely not pregnant as both my tubes are blocked and why I need them removed, I will try the Drs tomorrow, sorry but can I ask what the abbreviations are BFP and FET? please, congratulations to you x
Hi Bernie, is definitely get that checked out. Maybe A&E - It sounds horrid. I’m just recovering from having both my tubes clipped yesterday and hoping to start FET next month. X
