Privately funded ivf with a donated egg in the UK

We have had a little delay in getting going with our second ivf cycle, due to me having spinal surgery in February. I’m fighting fit and now and had a consultation with our clinic, where they advised we need to use donor eggs to become pregnant. We are on the waiting list for an egg donor. It’s likely to be a long wait, at least 6 months, yet more delays, so we are looking into paying privately, rather than using our nhs funding.

Can anyone suggest where we should even start please?!

Have a look at access fertility. They offer various UK clinics for donor eggs and different packages, some of which offer a refund...

Have you thought about going abroad? There are no waiting lists and the clinics are great. Many more couples are going abroad. Popular countries are Spain, Cyprus and Greece.

They can match you with a suitable donor.

Look at the fertility friends forum and eggdonationfriend. There are also support groups on Facebook.

We are using the London Egg Bank which is linked to our clinic and has a very good web site for searching and immediate availability. They do a lot of marketing to get donors ahead of the need and it takes a massive amount of stress off recipients.

Please please please consider abroad ... our local and highly reputable clinic in UK failed us big time sent us packing with a leaflet for coping with infertility. After a recommendation on a facebook page I opted for Prague. Cost us half the price of UK... that wasnt our main deciding factor there was no real waiting times, it was completely anonymous no faffs over my BMI and cost £5K with IVF DE ICSI Storage and weeks stay and accommodation which I arranged myself. UK would have been around £9K without any add ons. I became first time mum at almost 43 as ours was successful first attempt. So so lucky x

We're about to start a donor cycle in the UK with access fertility which I think is a good deal. We were told a waiting list of 6-8 months but got our match after 1.5months! Best of luck. Let me know if you have any more questions xxx

agreed with marthasmum, Czech and Poland are more affordable, excellent service and not waiting time.
