IVF Donor Egg in UK, Europe or outside? Refund or guarantee programmes?Anybody with experience happy to share highs and lows, risks?

Hi,

After three failed IVF rounds in UK, with my own eggs, I was recommended that at my age 43, if I continue with IVF to try IVF donor egg.

Because of uncertainty and high costs I am looking in particular to find clinics that offer Refund or Guarantee Programmes.

Can anybody advise from their personal experience? Spain is front runner at the moment, HOWEVER I am scared that I can't influence any of the the donor qualities, like educated/intelligence or attractiveness.

We can't afford the USA prices and long distance, where we can control more the donor selection.

Any thoughts are welcomed!

Thank you

Hi I'm fairly new to this so don't know anywhere that offers guarantee. I was recommended to contact Ruth Pellow who is an english nurse that coordinates for various clinics abroad. I'm under iakentro in athens. I can send you her contact details?. I was happy with the donors she offered me.,and that it wasn't over complicated.

Hi,

Thanks for your note. Yes please if you could pass Ruth's details it would be helpful.

Are you far in the process with donor egg?

Many thanks

G

In Cyprus you can choose donor age hair colour eye colour height etc and education level and it’s anonymous which was our preference , im very early in pregnancy so waiting on viability scan in a few weeks. We lost our first at 10 weeks which was from first donor round in Cyprus, this is our second transfer as we had frozen embryos left. Good luck with what you decide . Also we had a coordinator based on the Wirral and they also have a clinic at Harley st London x

Hi sorry to jump in on your thread TravelNow. I am at the point where I think I have to consider DE, and would probably go abroad. I have met Barcelona IVF but don't know about their refund policy. Hidden would you mind PM-ing me about your reasons for preferring anonymous donation please? I think this would be my preference too. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck TravelNow

Bernabeu in Alicante do a guarantee program with donor eggs-the age limit is 43. You get 3 full rounds and as many transfers as needed -so depends how many frozen from each round.

I haven’t yet-am doing one more round with my own eggs here but if that doesn’t work then they’re my next option!

Hi TravelNow, my husband and I are just embarking on IVF with donor eggs (DE) in Spain. I'm 41 and we had one failed attempt on NHS with DE and that was end of NHS road for us (I had it confirmed that I had gone through early menopause at 39 so DE is only way for us). We went to private clinic here but lack of donor eggs generally in UK and they frequently link up with 2 clinics in Spain so suggested we consider that option and talked us through it - same screening process in Spain as UK (hence why they use them) but completely anonymous - lots of women do it to fund themselves through Uni there. Unlike on NHS in UK where you're grateful to just get an egg donor they have lots to choose from and so will match our donor with our characteristics - you get asked to fill info forms to provide info on this and supply clear digital photos. Clinic in UK that we will be using for scans etc gsave us 2 brochures and told us to do our research and they would do referral if we wanted. Two clinics were IVI and Instituto Bernabeu, both have various clinics across Spain and offer multi programme / pregnancy guarantee. We choose IB in Alicante following our research - good reviews and also need to consider how easy it is to get there. We did first consultation via Skype and have been there this week as you have to have extra tests for pregnancy guarantee programme (which we are looking to do) for them to ensure all ok before they will consider accepting you onto programme - we will find out in about 3-4 weeks time now. Emails back and forth, to both personal care assistant (PCA) and administration (prices only for latter everything else through PCA) can be a bit wearing at times but their English is excellent and it was a great experience when we got to the clinic there this week - very slick, far better technology than we encourntered on NHS (to be expected i guess) and a lovely relaxing environment - made us feel confident in our choice & that we are in good hands. Hope this helps

Hi Nessa this sounds really good. I’ve just been taking a look at IB website and would love to hear more. Would you mind PMing me an idea of costs for the three cycle guarantee programme? I can’t see prices on their site. Thanks x

I have a 2 week old daughter after my first DE round with IVF Barcelona. I am also 43. I’m not sure about their refund policy but I couldn’t fault them. I think I would find it hard to pick a donor myself and now that my baby is here I realise that I love her no matter what. We got matched for physical characteristics and she actually looks like me. Hi! We used Barcelona IVF and i can say that they are amazing. We were accepted to pregnancy programme and all worked for us with second attempt, i am pregnant now:) Very quick respond, always happy to skype if you have any questions. When first time it did not work, they changed the donor, always trying to match your characteristics with her. When now i need any of the medicine, they email prescription to me within an hour.

Hi my clinic was in Greece and i have the best team and i am still in contact with them and i am 26 weeks +3 and i pick the doner spam from the profiles and they have the same hair colour eye colour and some blood tip as me and the price was half of the uk and you get a better service. X

I have a 5 month old son from DE at IVF spain in alicante. I done my treatment end of February so flights were only £33 and accommodation was cheap. You also get to choose certain characteristics that you would want. We did first consultation by Skype. Good luck 👍👍👍

Good luck, no matter what you choose. I've heard very good things about ivfserum.com I don't have a personal experience but a friend has and she was very impressed. I'm Greek and in Greece going private for anything medical related is really common, not a luxury like here in the UK. Our version of NHS is far from being great. So there is loads of competition and everyone tries hard to impress and be the best. Doctors are often available 24/7.. have a look at their site.

Hi TravelNow

I have been looking at your post from a few months ago.

Did you find a clinic suitable for donor guarantee/refund programmes? I have been looking myself recently. Any feedback would be lovely.

Thanks

Sally
