Had a complication during egg collection today 😢😢 They’ve got 22 eggs and there’s fluid in my Fallopian tube. Have to go back on Thursday for a scan but she said but it’s likely that they’ll end up referring me back to Gynae to have my tube clamped and then they’ll use frozen embryos. She said at the very least I could be waiting ‘a couple of months’ for apt with gynae. Absolutely devastated, anyone else had this? I’m so upset, I’d booked two weeks off work following transfer because I work in a dementia ward with lots of aggression and violence and now it’ll be for nothing 😢😢

I know your annoyed but it really the best thing to do is to wait. I had fluid in my tubes and my cycle failed because I was in denial and being stubborn. I the. Had the fluid filled tube removed and my follow g cycle was successful and baby is now 3 months old. At least once it’s done you have the best possible chance xxx

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that your cycle hasnt quite gone to plan and that you may need to freeze this round. I completely understand your devastation. A couple of months ago I was all set to start my FET and then all of a sudden due to medical reasons I had to postpone it at the last minute until I could get referred to a specialist, get checked out and get the all clear. I like you was totally devastated as it wasnt expected at all and I was all set to go ahead with my cycle. It took me a few days to get my head around it but in the end I knew it was the best way forward. You want to make sure you are in the best possible health and do everything you can to maximise your chances of success so although it's really disappointing now, hopefully you wont need to delay for too long to have your tube fixed and then you can go ahead with your transfer knowing you have done everything you can to increase your chances of a successful cycle.

You've got an amazing number of eggs collected so I hope you will have some really good frozen embies waiting for you to transfer when you are ready 🤩🤗

Maybe you can ask work if you can cancel your leave or just take the 2 weeks off and treat yourself to a nice break away, or enjoy yourself doing lots of fun things that you wouldnt normally get a chance to do xx

I'm in a similar situation - I have suspected endometriosis alongside unexplained infertility but all had seemed to be going ahead with IVF, we were at our last appointment and shown how to inject our drugs etc ready to start for a round this month and then I had a scan which found fluid in my left tube - I'd been complaining of pains being worst here but previously nothing found.

They've postponed IVF as fluid can be dangerous so does seem best to delay but we've already had a few delays so I was heartbroken. BUT - they got me back to gynae within just a couple of weeks and I'm having a laparoscopy and removal of tube in two weeks time. Will set me back to November but your operation will be much smaller and you've already got your eggs so fingers crossed you'll be much quicker than that.

I know how gutting it is, I really do, just think that in the long run it's better, you don't want any little emby washed away or to put yourself at increased risk of miscarriage for the sake of a couple of months - we've waited so long a few weeks more won't hurt! Sending lots of love xxxxxx

Thank you for your replies ladies. Xx. Got my phonecall from embryologist yesterday and 12 eggs have fertilised 😱. I was so upset on Monday but as the days have gone on, I realise my clinic just want to give us the best chance of getting pregnant. This is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve been fairly ‘together’ so far so think the tears on Monday was probably months of repressed emotion. xx

That's brilliant news, 12 is a great starting number! It is hard when the clinic put things off and you have your hope's up but you're right, it's completely for your own success....just hard to see at the time! Hugs.xx

12 is fab!! Fingers crossed you get to freeze! I can imagine it just feels like another delay but the success rates are about equal between fresh and frozen transfers! Best of luck!! Xxx
