Negative test results - Gutted

Hi, I'm new to this group but have found it very useful during the TWW. I've just undergone my first ICSI cycle and today did a pregnancy test. It was negative and despite trying to be prepared it's hit me hard.

I'm 39 years old, turning 40 this year. Had an ecoptic pregnancy 2 years ago and after almost 3 years of trying thought this would be my chance.

I'm hoping to do another cycle but I feel lost and like I've failed. And that I'll never get a chance to be a mum.

Am I being silly and should I just stop and come to the realization it won't happen?

Help?

Thanks in advance x

Hi Letis, I’m so sorry you’ve had a negative test it’s so difficult to see a stark white test. I think after so many tests and long waits and consultations most of us think our first round of ivf will be successful, I know I definitely did!

Sadly, more often than not, during our first round the drs are getting to know our bodies, how we will react to the meds etc So that in our next round we’re more successful!

You CERTAINLY HAVENT missed your chance to be a mom, there are hundreds of women on here, far older than 40, who have been successful in having babies so don’t lose faith just yet. Take a while to process how your feeling, book a follow up with your dr and then when you’re ready you csn maybe try again. Best of luck to you ❤️🍀

Thank you so much RedFox23...it's so encouraging to hear your words and so nice to be within a supportive group. The Dr just always keep saying to me, it's your last chance so am so glad that isn't the case. I'll try not to lose faith! Thank you ❤️

so sorry your first round didn’t work. As Redfox says, whilst we are sold a dream with IVF the reality is the first round is so often a learning round where doctors are understanding how your body reacts to drugs etc. I think I once heard that on average it takes three transfers to work but obviously some people it takes more or less.

I wouldn’t worry about age at the moment, you are actually far from old in IVF terms. I may be a bit extreme but I welcomed my daughter after 8 years of ttc and ivf at the grand old age of 46 and I wasn’t the oldest mum my midwife had x

I'm so sorry to hear this, but I have a friend who is older than you who went for another cycle and had her daughter at 43.

It's such a tough journey but don't feel alone. I think some Drs forget that for them this is run of the mill but for us is life changing and we rely on them for advice!

You aren't a failure, none of us are ❤️

Xxx

I totally can relate, I’m also 39 and turning 40 this year. I’ve just had a negative test following my second cycle with nothing to freeze. Now waiting to start a third cycle but this will be the last NHS funded cycle and feeling like I’m losing hope. I would like to be optimistic but it’s a tough old journey. Wishing you the best of luck for future cycles if you choose to continue, hang in there.

So sorry to hear this dear. Do not lose hope and give up on your dream of becoming a mum. Most 1st round IVF cycles are negative but in the 2nd cycle most people conceive. Even with me same thing happened. By the way I would like to suggest you to take flax seed+pumpking seed in the 1st half of your menstrual cycle and sesame seed+sunflower seed in the second half. You can ground the seed combinations and take them with milk or smoothie, but do take twice 1tbsp everyday. They regulate and maintain our hormones and help with endometrium thickness, egg quality and implantation. Its the hormones which plays the role.

Also, u can start taking IVF accupuncture sessions.they greatly impact your hormone profile, endometrium and implantation. Also, on the day of transfer in your next cycle ,try to take accupuncture session in the morning itself. It really increases blood flow to the uterus and thus help in implantation.

Also, try consulting with your dr regarding ERA test. It helps with finding exact WOI specifically.

These all helped me, so thus suggesting you.

Dont be sad, just have faith on urself and ur body, your body will respond in a positive way. Lots of love to you....hoping you see positive lines on your HPT kit soon.
