Hi all, I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy with biopsy, almost 2 years ago. Hysteroscopy came back clear but both tubes removed as part of laparoscopy. Since then I have had 3 failed FETs, 2 of which were with euploid embryos.
My clinic have suggested I have a hysteroscopy before considering EMMA/ALICE/ERA. To be honest, I wasn’t sure that I had a hysteroscopy as part of laparoscopy until I checked my hospital records so I’d told the clinic that I’d just had a laparoscopy.
I’m attempting to go through my private medical insurance but even so wondered if anyone has experience of repeated hysteroscopy in c2 years or less which showed up something the second time round. Just wondering if it’s worth going through again…

Hi, just wondering if they saw any signs of endometriosis when they did your laparascopy? Did they take biopsies? Did they give you a reason for why both tubes might have been blocked?
As far as I'm aware two big reasons for this are endometriosis or chronic endometritis (infection / inflammation), both can be potentially missed by an inexperienced doctor and can be significant. I was prophylactically treated for all of these before my success. I'd definitely see if you could get a repeat lap + hysteroscopy covered by a specialist potentially it could be helpful. Do you have any other symptoms like pelvic pain, period pain, spotting? I think that would help you get it covered xx
Hi and thank you for your reply. There was no endometriosis found. Both tubes badly damaged so they were removed. Everything else appeared normal and biopsies were taken. Yes I suffer with period pains and have used this to get a referral through my private medical as it doesn’t cover fertility.
I just wondered if a gynaecologist will want to perform a repeat procedure so soon. X
Any diagnosis why you have period pains? I say this as I had period pain since my first one and told it was normal over and over for 15+ years. It turns out I had hidden endometriosis, once it was removed I had no pain at all for 2 consecutive periods. Did they take images you could show to an endometriosis specialist? They took biopsies during the lap or just during the hysteroscopy? Did they biopsy your tubes to see what causes the damage? I've since learned that many doctors fail to do basic due diligence, so I'm quite sceptical now is my point. Also I do believe IVF especially can propel fibroids and polyps to grow a bit faster, so it's possible for that too xx
Can completely understand feeling sceptical. And these are all things I can ask at my consultation. Thank you for the suggestions and thoughts, it’s been really useful. X
Hi there, I had a hysteroscopy in October 2022 to remove a polyp and then had another hysteroscopy in November 2023 in addition to my lap which showed a different polyp, which actually didn't appear on my scans and was also removed. I also had a D&C both times. My clinic recommended the hysteroscopy before starting a new IVF round to maximise implantation chances.
Hey! I would also recommend some further testing if you have jot done that already, including immunological - kir and hlac, nk cells, cytokines, blood issues such as clotting and thrombophylia, thyroid function... plus era emma alice to see if there is any disbiosis or bacteria... or mayba a displaced window of implantation... stay strong 🌞🤗
Thanks very much for your reply. I’ve had my bloods checked for a number of those things. And I’m definitely considering ERA EMMA ALICE depending on outcome of hysteroscopy. Xx
I’d be happy to share my experience, as I may be having a repeat hysteroscopy in the coming weeks (my last one (with lap) was 2 years ago, no endo was found). Because of many chemical pregnancies since then I’m keen to see if there’s anything that’s been missed x
