Hi All

Does anyone know if your normal GP can prescribe Cyclogest (progesterone pessaries) or is it only something your clinic can prescribe

Thanks xx

I’m not sure but i did see you can buy it online with boots. Not sure if a prescription was needed as I was just checking out prices.

Thanks 3005 I’ll check that out - if I can get it without having to go the the clinic it will be better

GPs can prescribe it but if you are under a private clinic they may be reluctant to do so xx

My GP is really good to me so i might approach him - just looked at boots website they will do it with a prescription, so i could see if the clinic will email it to me. Just saves me a journey into London

I got mine prescribed by the GP upon providing a letter from my consultant stating that I would need them as part of a fertility treatment.

I might go the GP route as it will be easier, i'm awaiting the clinic to call to book me in for a scan so need to check that I still need to be on the 800mg a day that i'm currently on, tested yesterday as instructed and got a faint positive - so fingers crossed there is nothing sinister!!

GP most likely will be able to prescribe cyclogest!

It’s a progesterone in injections they sometimes find to struggle to find available within their list of drugs on prescription. I was on prontogest 100ml/1mg daily but even them they manage to prescribe me! they had to write them down manually on prescription for me tough as the brand is unlicensed and not commonly available from pharmacies !

Thanks Anya80 - I have the delight of the pessaries - but if it works then that is a very small price to pay!

In my case I had to supply myself up to 7th week of pregnancy, soon after my clinic signed me off I contacted gp for further supply, I also was on cyclogest.

Pessaries are not that expensive and surely gp should not have problem to signed them off to you, as someone above suggested you may need letter from your fertility clinic for that for early supply;)

All the best with you treatment 💝
